I used this potty for my daughter and had no problems. She loved going on it. As with all potty training, everyone has different experiences and always will. For us, this potty was just fine. No bells and whistles which was great because my daughter had the Royal Potty and instead of concentrating on the concept she was too busy playing with the sounds. This is a basic potty and it worked perfect for us. We also placed it right next to a basket of books :-) Good Luck.Customer Review: Not for little boys!

I hate, hate, hate this potty! The shield will not stay on. My son sits on the potty and either the shield falls off into the potty or he grabs it and hands it to me saying "here you go". It is also cumbersome to get the bowl out of the potty to empty. There is a lot of open space under the seat that gives bacteria a great chance to grow even with frequent cleaning. Maybe this would work for a little girl but it is a no-go for a little boy.Customer Review: Practical Potty for the Price--Use with two boys

I bought this potty for my first son, 5 years ago, when he was 1. It worked great to introduce him to the potty and transition him to the regular toilet. What I LOVED about this potty is that it fit well in my van. When accidents would have occurred because I had no where to take my son to use the restroom, he could sit on his potty no matter where we were.
Yes, you have to deal with lifting the top of the potty to get to the cup to empty, but aren't all potty seats that way? It wasn't inconvenient to me to use this potty. We "sometimes" used the step stool, but most of our use was as a portable potty in the car when my son was trained.
My 3 year old uses it now in the car when those emergencies occur. It has been a well used, practical potty for the price I paid. There are other pottys that have cool sounds and other gadgets to look like a toilet, etc. This potty fit our needs for two boys !

we bought this seat --- knowing we'd need it with two kids potty training at the same time (and one who will potty train soon after.....)...there just aren't enough toilets in the house!....HOWEVER --- this seat serves as an additional toilet - when we need it....but, we really don't LIKE using it. both of my potty trainers would rather sit on a ring on the toilet....and this one seems very uncomfortable --- as they usually end up fidgeting on it - and complaining that their legs and butts hurt. you know potty-training - kids end up sitting a long time waiting for something to happen....this seat just isn't accomodating to that. we've since nixed the potty - and use just the step stool - which is okay.Customer Review: not a good seat for boys

We have been using this seat with our 2.5 year old son. The pee guard is detachable and I can't even count the number of times he's pulled it off (intentionally or accidentally) and it has landed IN the potty bowl (and its contents). To empty the bowl, you have to lift the top hinged seat up. Since I have a boy that pees against the potty guard, the pee then drips into the base of the seat (the stool part) which is divided into multiple little squares that pee gets trapped in. I have to take the whole potty into the shower and hose it down. All that to say, I wouldn't buy it again...especially for a boy!!!!
