My little one was already getting into things when I knew we had to do something. Even though we got the plastic latch kind as shower gifts, I wasn't going to bother installing them because I had seen them at our church nursery, and other homes to know that they did not work that well. Someone suggested these magnetic locks and I am so glad that they did!
PROS:
How Well They Work:
My toddler absolutely cannot get into any cabinets that has these installed. Once we got them in, she gave up on any door that had them. Now that she is a little older, she will flip the red latch on an open door (like one with pots and pan that we leave open while we are cooking) and lock it herself. I never have to worry about her getting into household chemicals or just making a mess. Since they do not give at all when she tries to pull one open, we don't have to worry about pinched fingers either.
Asthetics:
You cannot tell these are installed. There is no odd piece hanging on the outside. Your cabinets are still beautiful, but non-accessible to little ones.
Other:
Once your child is older and you don't need them anymore, you can just disarm the locks by flipping the read latch and leave them installed. You never know when they could come in handy again (visitors, grandchildren, etc.)

Installation:
I wouldn't say the directions are difficult to understand, but you do need to READ the directions and follow the steps. My DH did them, but he did get in a rush with one cabinet and drilled a hole right through the door! Be careful!
Ease of Use:
Depending on how thick your cabinets are, or how well you install them, it might be a little tricky getting the magnet (key) to line up with the post to release the lock. On most doors, my DH did a great job and they unlock everytime without much effort. But on one door, I think he didn't drill far enough and you have to get the key "just right." It doesn't really bother me though because my toddler tried to use the key and couldn't get it lined up enough to get them open.
These locks do exactly what they are supposed to do without wearing out, pinching fingers, or breaking. With the right kind of cabinets, they will work just as well for you.
