Baby Products Reviews of Safety 1st Crystal Clear Baby Monitor, WhiteCustomer Review: Came broken Summary: 2 Stars
Our monitor was broken when we got it - the baby's unit (transmitter) never lit up when you plugged it in. It seemed like a power problem. Saftey 1st was very hard to get through to on the phone. I tried off and on for a couple days before my call got answered in a reasonable amount of time. Then the return process was too long and complicated. They wanted to send me a letter to sign and return to them along with the defective monitor. Then they would send me a new one. After waiting a week before receiving the letter I changed my mind and just went out and bought a different monitor at Target. I needed a monitor and got the feeling like it was going to be another couple weeks before I'd ever get the replacement one. I like shopping on the web, but it's real frustrating when you get something that doesn't work because it's so much harder to return than if you had just bought it at the store.
Customer Review: Fine monitor Summary: 4 Stars
The reception is clear, both units can be operated on batteries or plugged in. They are very portable, especially with parent unit having the belt clip. If you turn the sound all the way up you can hear your baby breathing. To hear EVERYTHING that goes on in the room you can keep the sound at the regular level. I sometimes "walk" the baby by putting him on the balkony in his stroller and setting the baby's unit in it, so I do not have to keep the window/balkony door open. Other features I'd look for in a monitor (that's where my rating lost a star) would be cool looks and charge base, but then again, in this one you can simply change a battery, whereas in a rechargeable unit you'd have to place it in base and loose portability for a while. Why not simply use rechargeable batteries? :) Overall it's a very good monitor and I am satisfied with it.
Customer Review: NO static EVER after 3 years!! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought our monitor almost 3 years ago and I can honestly say we have NEVER ever had any static on it. We live in a house that's about 1350 sq. ft. and we have 5.8 GHz cordless phones and ceiling fans all through our house. We take the monitor outside when my son is napping and don't even get static then. We have never had to change the channel on it, and we have found that we get the same great reception no matter which channel it is on. It picks up the slightest sound my son makes and is VERY CLEAR! I wish we hadn't wasted our money on a video monitor when our first child was born because this one would have done the trick just fine. The only thing I don't like is that the green light is so bright when it is turned on. I taped a piece of paper over it and that took care of that problem. It has proven very sturdy too. For the money, you cannot beat it at all!
Customer Review: Affordable and works great! Summary: 5 Stars
Initially, I purchased the fanciest, most expensive monitor I could find thinking expensive must mean better. Can you tell I am a first time parent? This was not the case. There was so much static and clicking in the other monitor that it nearly drove me insane!I purchased this monitor just to compare it with the other. There was no comparison! Hands down this one was better. Just like it's name, it was crystal clear. I could her my daughter breathing, stirring, I could even hear the cd that was playing in her room repeat itself back to the first track. I love this thing! After a very early choking incident when my daughter was only 11 days old, it's very comforting to be able to hear her sigh without having to go in her room to check on her. Save your money for a college fund! This one may be the cheapest but as far as I am concerned, it's the best.
Customer Review: Keep looking Summary: 2 Stars
The frequency the monitor uses was full of static at my home. The troubleshooting guide, after suggesting simple fixes such as making sure the channels are set correctly and that the units not be too far away from each other, tells one to unplug other appliances in the home that might be causing the interference. There is a reason I have the other appliances in my home. If my refrigerator is causing the interference, I'm going to keep my refrigerator and not the monitor. When I called Safety First's customer service, I was treated rather rudely and they were unable to solve the problem. I sent the monitor back and purchased a Sony Baby Call 900 mhz 27 channel unit, which although costing twice as much, has been worth every penny. Sony Baby Call Nursery Monitor
