Baby Products Reviews of Safety 1st Crystal Clear Baby Monitor, WhiteCustomer Review: Best monitor for clear sound Summary: 4 Stars
This monitor is exactly what it says--Crytal Clear! We have tried two other monitors (the Clear and Near and one made by evenflo)and none of them worked as good as this monitor. And the price on this one beats the others by far. Our evenflo monitor has to be turned up all the way and even then I find myself straining to listen for little noises all the time. Now that my son is older, it is not so bad, but as a newborn I wanted to be able to hear every little thing that I could in the room where he was sleeping. The evenflo monitor is not loud AT ALL. However, the Crytal Clear monitor is super loud and we only need to turn it up about a third of the way. This picks up the sound of us walking on the carpet in his room, plus the sound of his breathing. The only down falls of this monitor are that it has a long antenna and the battery is not rechargeable. I have to say that this monitor was the one that we used when our son started to sleep in his own room, because I trusted the sound so much more than our other one. It sounds like we are standing right next to him.
Customer Review: It does the job! Summary: 5 Stars
I just wanted a basic baby monitor so I'd know when my son was crying, since I often can't hear him downstairs when the dishwasher and/or the washing machine are going. This fits the bill perfectly. It's extremely easy to use. Plug in the "sound-in" unit (mine is on the floor right next to the crib) and turn it on to a channel. Then go elsewhere and plug in the "sound out" wherever you want to be, and turn it to the same channel, and you're good to go. You can put batteries in these if you'd like, and the "sound-out" unit has a belt clip so you could wear it if you wanted to. The sound quality is good enough that I have no trouble hearing the difference between "making noise but not really waking up" and "starting to wake up now." The most important noise, "I'm hungry - feed me!" comes across extremely loud and clear.
These units are rather light, which makes me wonder at their long-term durability. However at this price, one really can't complain. I'll update this if mine conks out as some other people's units have done.
Customer Review: "Crystal Clear" is COMPLETELY off. Summary: 1 Stars
We bought this monitor because we needed another one for our second baby. It did NOT work at all. I thought that originally it was because the first monitor we had [also a Safety 1st brand] was interfering with the wavelengths and causing the static. Definitely NOT the case, I've tried it without the first monitor on and it's still filled with a ton of static. Yes, I've tried switching channels and checking to make sure they were on the same channel, and all that fancy stuff. [Our family is big a tech stuff, so BELIEVE ME, I've tried everything.] Nothing works, this monitor is pure trash. Try it if you want, you may be one of the lucky ones, but I prefer our more expensive one [in the $50 range], and plan on finding one similar to it [it's now considered an "older" model]. It really is CRYSTAL CLEAR, and works like a charm. [Plus the more expensive one has a nightlight option, controlled by touch, and it has two receivers. It's worth the money, THIS ONE IS NOT.]
Customer Review: Very clear, and much cheaper than the inferior expensive one Summary: 5 Stars
I received a much more expensive model of baby monitor for a shower gift. I read the reviews online and saw lots of people complaining about static but at first mine wasn't static-y. For some reason, though, after about two weeks, the first monitor became very very static-y. I could barely hear my twin babies cry, let alone any of their softer noises. So I ordered this cheaper monitor after reading a number of reviews that said it was clear. I am impressed, not only with how clear it is, but with the sound quality overall and the much less expensive price. Not only that, but the old static burdened monitor did not have an indicator light to warn me when the battery was going low-- and in the middle of the night, my old monitor's battery died, shutting off the monitor. The "crysal clear" one has an indicator, so it warns when you're getting close.
Buy this one. Sometimes, more expensive isn't better.
Customer Review: THIS IS ALL YOU NEED - GREAT MONITOR FOR AN UNBEATABLE PRICE Summary: 5 Stars
I received this monitor as a free gift when I spent over a certain amount of money purchasing baby shower gifts for a friend. I have been using this monitor for a year now and it is unbelievably a fabulous monitor. I thought it would be just a cheap monitor since it was free and inexpensive to purchase. I have a wireless phone system...still no problems. I keep this thing on constantly, and I haven't had to change a battery. For my baby shower I received as a gift, the safety 1st video monitor and I've had nothing but problems with that monitor which costs aprox. $149.00. Between not getting a clear picture and now the infrared not working, I have exchanged it twice and I'm going back to babies r us to return it for a refund this time. All I need is my crystal clear monitor. The Crystal Clear nursery monitor is clear and it is very lightweight so you can bring it with you everywhere. A+ on this one.
