We had this on our old oven almost 2 yrs and it worked great. (Currently buying it for the new oven.) We had no problems with the adhesive -- v. strong! It is true, though, that adults can pop it open when they pull hard on the door... but my 3- and 1-yr-olds have never opened the oven with it locked. Also, think through where you place it. Our oven is in a corner so the lock ended up getting caught up in the drawer whenever we forgot to close the lock before opening the drawer. Now, we'll put the lock on the other side :)
