Baby Products Reviews of Safety 1St Comfy Cushy 3-in-1 PottyCustomer Review: Soft potty Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this potty to replace the Safety 1st Potty 'n Step Stool that we used to have. It was a great potty but my two year old cracked the seat, from using it as a step to reach the sink, and we had to toss it. While I like that it is very cushy, that same cushy bit is the part that sticks to her bottom sometimes, when she stands up, if it is stuck to her then when it falls off her bottom into the potty it is not fun. Other than that it's great. The lid is the step stool in this case and it's just about the right height for her to reach the sink.
The only flaws are that the bowl is rather large, and my sink is small, if you have a tub or a bigger sink, it should be fine. Also we have the extended bowl toilets and this potty seat doesn't work so well with it. How I miss the round toilets from the old house...
I also have three other potties for my daughter, one of which, the The First Years - Pooh 3-in-1 Flush & Sounds Potty, we really don't like. The cup is inset into the seat and when it sticks (and it does, a lot) the ensuing mess is very gross.
Customer Review: Lid is a serious scrape risk Summary: 2 Stars
BE CAREFUL! The lid is deep, full of sharp lines and edges, and lays flat on the floor behind the potty unless you prop it up against a wall or something. Twice now my 2 year old daughter stumbled while trying to sit on the potty and fell onto the open lid. She got several nasty scratches and bruises. As a result, we made a soft pillow insert for the lid to avoid a repeat. We bought this potty for my daughter because of the soft seat. Even after rinsing and drying immediately after she uses it, the seat still absorbs urine, which smells bad and is discoloring the seat. Now she is getting a red rash ring on her bum - at first I thought it was just the normal red ring you get from sitting for a while, but on closer inspection, the whole area of her bum that touches the soft ring was red and inflamed, for the better part of a whole day (whether than was from the urine/ammonia soaked in the seat or the cleaning products I've used on the ring I don't know). My daughter is 35 pounds and when she stands on the closed potty like a step stool, the lid shifts a little, but enough to alter her balance - I would be careful using it as a stepstool for heavier children.
Customer Review: Poor Design = STINKY disgusting potty Summary: 2 Stars
We've had 2 of this potty for a little over a month and are just noticing a horrid urine smell coming from the bathrooms. I've cleaned the big toilet, little potty, floor, rugs, etc and the smell just won't go away. I finally picked up the blue foam cushion and realized it's porous and spongy and has been collecting pee for a month now!! I took it to the sink and squeezed it and you don't want to know what came out. I clean it daily with antibacterial solution and water, thinking that I'm getting it clean. I thought all I needed to clean was the surface of the cushion. I had no idea it was sponging everything up!
Who would design a potty chair that has a sponge for a seat?? It has collected all of what my twin toddlers have been putting into the potty. Disgusting! Needless to say, I just went and bought two new chairs.
The reviewers who rated it with 4 and 5 stars have probably not had this chair long enough for it to collect urine and start smelling.
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my first attempt at Potty training, my son is 2.5yrs old. I LOVE this potty chair. I love that it's easy to clean, all you do is remove the cushion part and lift the pot up and out of the chair and dump into the toilet! So easy for a child to help with as well. Like PP said, no hard nooks and cranny's to clean.
It's very comfortable for my son and he doesn't mind sitting on it for a while.
The shield isn't the largest but all the books say not to use a shield anyways since their parts can get hung up on them and hurt them. So the fact that it's small and very soft is great! Not to mention it's not removable so my son who likes to take things apart can not take the shield off. I have an insert for the toilet and he would always push the shield attached to the insert INTO the toilet! YUCK!! No problem like that with this chair!
I strongly recommend this chair, I think it's perfect and have had NO problems with it! Great price too!!
Customer Review: TERRIBLE for boys, but not much better for girls. Summary: 1 Stars
We purchased this seat a few months ago when my 2 year old decided he was ready to use the potty. The cup is not big enough for a boy. If he does manage to get it in the potty it splashes around the rim and then the cushy seat absorbs it like a sponge. The smell is awful! The little girl I babysit for also tried it and had a worse mess around the rim of the toilet. There is a pour spout that doesn't work so when you dump it out the pee goes out all over the place. Forget pooping! The seat is too small (even for a tiny girl) and when they sit far enough back to get the peepee in the potty, poop doesn't go in the hole - just all over the seat and tushy. Ew. The lid is about 2" deep so when it is flipped back the toilet will not sit flush with a wall, which means there is a peeing toddler scooting across the floor OR the lid jabs him in the back and he jumps up midstream. We now use this as a step stool to wash hands and will get rid of it when I find a more stylish step stool. Ha!
