Customer Review: Design could be much better

I installed these on our '02 Toyota Highlander and '08 Infinity G35 Sedan. The design of these mats could be much better. First: The bottom strap is not adjustable at all, so for me to even put it over the seats I had to stretch them at maximum length, making me afraid that they would break. The strap is pulled taught and sticks out for the front seat passengers. This didn't seem to cause any sitting discomfort for the driver or front passenger, just ugly appearance-wise. After getting the bottom straps over the seats and as low as possible, the top of the seat protector is pulled several inches lower than the shoulder of the seat, exposing the seat. This is where we NEED to protector the most, as my 23 mo. old usually has his feet up there.
SECOND: The box says that the top straps are fully adjustable for a tight fit around the seat's headrest. Not so. Neither strap has Velcro long enough to make a tight fit. I ended up having to tie the straps together in a knot, then Velcro together the loose ends.
I didn't like how the mat installed when following their directions, so I ended up removing the bottom strap that went over the entire seat and just placed it around part of the back of the seat where it would 'catch' the strap. I'm not sure this will hold the bottom of the mat in place or not, so I will have to report on it later. I haven't even had my son in his carseat to try these protectors out, but I am already unhappy with them. Had I known they were not designed very well, I would've opted for a different back protector mat. It's a good thing they weren't that expensive.
