Customer Review: Great mirror - easy to use, handy to have

I bought this mirror with my oldest son, and it was very handy to have while he was rear-facing. While the mirror does scratch easily, it offers a nice wide view so you can see the baby while quickly glancing in your rear view mirror.
I also had it checked by the police when I had the car seat installed, and they didn't have any concerns about it detaching or injuring the baby. In an accident, ANYTHING can become detached or a flying object in the car (groceries, stroller, toys) but this offers no greater risk than anything else you keep in the car. And being able to quickly glance and see that the baby is ok is IMO much safer than trying to pull over on a busy highway.
I would highly recommend this mirror - it has lasted more than 2 yrs for us and is very reassuring.

I really liked this mirror because of the viewing size. However, it does have a VERY BIG FLAW. The mirror comes with a protective film to keep the plastic mirror from being scratched or damaged during shipping, installation, etc. After removing the protective plastic, I accidentally touched the mirror with my thumb. I went to GENTLY rub my thumbprint off with my t-shirt (a soft cloth) and the crappy plastic scratched instantly. Now there's a cloudy area right where I need to see my baby's face. What's the point of having a mirror if I can't see my baby? I have another plastic mirror from a different manufacturer that did not scratch when I wiped off my fingerprints - that's going back into my car. This one is going back to the store. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MIRROR TO ANYONE!Customer Review: An excellent product when used wisely.

We are very happy with this mirror and I'm not worried about the safety concerns voiced by other reviewers. Our car is LATCH equipped so we are able to use the tether attachment--any accident bad enough to detach the mirror would most likely detach the car seat as well, besides which the mirror is plastic and pretty light-weight. As for the mirror being a distraction, like a cellphone or CD player, it's only as much of a distraction as you allow it to be. A quick glance back every once in a while is enough to reassure me that our baby is fine, and if he wasn't, I would pull over immediately. The image in the mirror is a little warped but not distorted--it's good enough to let you know what's going on with your child. I love this mirror but ... as someone already stated, the sticky part (one side of the velcro) doesn't stay stuck in the sun. I don't have headrests so I am using the tether system. I have the car seat in the center of my car and the car must get too much sun because the "glue" gets unsticky and loosens. That is not good when you are driving and it comes updone. It keeps falling on the baby. I could rig it by sewing the sticky side with the velrco down ... but it is too thick to get a needle through. My cousin has the same mirror, in the other pattern though, and she LOVES the mirror. She has head rests though.
I recommend this mirror but be prepared for another method if you don't have headrests and you will using this in the summer.

I am with the mom's that are not very satisfied with this product. I am a dad with very good handy skills and this mirror is not easy to install. No decent directions either. We had to sew the velcro on the base of the unit because the heat melted the glue on the strap! It works fairly well in my wife's Buick Regal because it is a 2001 with tether straps in the rear window area. I drive an older Chevy Tahoe with headrests and it is still difficult to see my daughter. We had to put a tissue box under the mirror to get the correct angle! In addition, I also had a problem with one of the mirrors became very foggy and pretty much useless. I think I may come up with a better design and make some cash.
