Baby Products Reviews of Regalo My Cot Portable Bed, Royal BlueCustomer Review: Great inexpensive alternative for air bed or playpen Summary: 5 Stars
We are headed on a three-week road trip this summer with three kids. Figuring my 7, 6, and 2 year old wouldn't do great in one queen bed for that long, I researched options for my 2 year old. I needed something inexpensive, compact and comfortable. The cot is about 1/3 the size of a collapsed pak n play...perhaps less. It folds up similar to a sports chair. Super easy, pretty compact. One reviewer said about 8 seconds to put up or down which is right on. Perfect for quickly loading up and getting on the road.
I read several reviews about a bar or strap running horizontally across the center of the cot which made it uncomfortable. When I bought mine, I set it up in my toddler's room for him to try out. I did notice the strap and it seemed it might bother me if I were to sleep on it...but I'm not less than 75 pounds, so I wasn't going to try. :) It's not a rigid strap by any means. There is some give. It didn't bother my son at all. In fact, he kept the bed up for two weeks - for naps and nighttime - and it never bothered him. My 6 year old daughter slept on it once and it didn't bother her (actually, she loved it!). In fact, it's good to know that either can sleep on it as it gives options to switch things up if necessary while on our trip.
Some reviewers said they put blankets down on it first to add more cushion. I found this unnecessary as it was more forgiving than the mattress of the pak n play. Plus, I didn't want to commit to something more bulky - it defeated the purpose in buying this.
I researched mine on Amazon, but actually bought it at Wal-Mart (near the sleeping bags) for $25. I wanted to be able to test it out and return it quickly if it didn't work out.
It's low to the ground which I appreciated. I was worried about my son falling out, but really it doesn't seem to be an issue since the cot cups him as he sleeps.
If your child sleeps fine in a pak n play, he'll sleep fine in this bed.
