Customer Review: Now that I know there are better options out there, I dropped my rating from 4 to 3 stars!
Summary: 3 Stars
I not only have 1, but 2 of these hook on chairs.
I have a small eat-in kitchen and this is a great alternative to a bulky high chair.
I would reccomend this over a high chair any day.
Also, for less than I was going to spend on a single high chair, I have one for everyday use at the kitchen table and another I keep in my van for when we go out to eat.
Pros:
Very inexpensive.
Baby is at the table with us.
It is fairly easy to set up and take down once you get the hang of it.
The removable seat pad cleans easily.
Baby seems comfy and happy at meal time.
I eat out a lot and have been able to use it at EVERY restaurant so far.
Cons (getting picky because it is worth EVERY penny spent on 2):
The bag is just a bit too small for the seat.
The straps get dirty and are hard to clean (even without the straps there is fabric between the legs to keep baby from sliding through so I honestly dont even use the straps when I am sitting right next to her).
The height is NOT adjustable and at 6 months my daughter sat pretty low (I have seen another model that has a height adjustment from the same company- buying again I would look into the extra cost to get the height adjustment if you have a child under @9 months).
There is no tray attached (I use baby wipes that I carry with me to make sure restaurant tables are clean before placing the seat on the table so this is a minor concern). It may be easier than always trying to clean a tray on outings anyway and the table is gonna get wiped down after the meal regardless.
Basically, there are a few tweaks I would like to see, but all in all, it is worth the cost. I highly recommend this product and am looking to buy another for my sister-in-law for X-mas.
UPDATE (after having it 2 years):
4 to 3 stars:
One of the buttons that locks the chair to the table broke, making the one chair useless (I had 2).
I got sick and tired of cleaning the fabric ALL the time.
I did put all the fabric in the washer/ dryer (a no-no by the manufacturer). It was that or throw it away because of how dirty it had gotten. It did come out like new except for an odor that lingered for a few days.
After, visiting a relative and seeing what I was missing out on, I have since replaced BOTH of these chairs with the GRACO TOT LOC chair. It is easier and quicker to attach to the table, wipes up much easier, removes easily, and if purchased with the tray, a much better option than having baby eat off the table. The graco is discontinued (I dont know why), so its typically purchased used from auction websites and is more expensive than this used. However, it has lasted me through 2 kids using them everyday (and I purchased them used already). I wish I had just spent the $$ and ordered Graco in the beginning.
You get what you pay for. If you are looking for a cheap seat that you use occasionally and dont mind taking extra time to set up, clean, and put away, than this will work for you. The no tray is easily solved by putting a cheap plastic placemat down on the table first (putting the arms over the placemat to hold it in place-- just make sure it is REALLY tight or it may slide-- potentially off the table w/ baby, so always pay attention to baby if doing this).
However, if, like me, you are using it instead of a high chair and/or use it frequently, than spend more and get one that is easier to use and will last longer.
Knowing how much better Graco is, I felt bad giving this seat away to a friend expecting her first baby. Its not terrible per se, there's just a better option for this type of seat.
