Baby Products Reviews of Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump Backpack

Customer Review: Works really well so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this pump for about 5 months and I use it before I go to work in the morning, twice at work, and once when I get home. I was a little concerned at first because for such an expensive pump the motor only has a 90 day warranty. I plan to keep my daughter on breastmilk until she's at least one and wanted a pump that would last. I tried one of the Avent manual pumps, but I had to be engorged before I would get a few ounces out of one side (nothing out of the other). The Medela pump is so much easier and does all the work for you. The pump has held up so far and I'm really happy with it. I bought extra shields and bottles to pack with me to take to work, and keep the rest at home. The only downside I saw to these bottles is that they are made to fit only with Medela products. Otherwise, the pump is great and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something durable and easy to use.

Customer Review: Gotta Have the Batteries
Summary: 5 Stars

I was debating between this and the Avent pump since I have nothing but Avent bottles. In the end, Babies R Us was sold out of the Avent and I bought the Medela backpack with an adaptor set so you can pump straight into the Avent bottles (Avent doesn't advertise this well). I'm so glad I did. The Avent doesn't have a battery pack so I don't know how you'd use it on a trip unless you don't mind standing in the middle of an airport bathroom pumping. I, myself, prefer the privacy of a stall.
Also, no one can tell its a breast pump. The backpack is very stylish and I was able to fit additional items in it so that I could use it as my only carry-on. The design is very innovative which you learn the more you use.
Most importantly, I can get 5 oz per breast out in less than 10 minutes so you don't feel like you're waiting forever while pumping. I'd recommend this to anybody.

Customer Review: Best BP I know of
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had a very good experience with this breast pump. It comes with everything you need in one package, including an attachment for doing manual pumping if you need to, a battery pack in case you don't have access to regular AC power, and a cooler for milk transportation. It is discreet and easy to travel with, as everything fits into the backpack.

This pump uses two-phase suction, which I have found to be very effective. For the first two minutes of the pumping session it pumps softly and quickly to stimulate milk let-down, and then switches to longer, stronger pumps that collect milk very quickly. My preemie baby and I had trouble when we started nursing and I'm positive that had I not gotten such a high-quality pump, I would have had much more difficulty establishing my supply. I can't emphasize the importance of getting a high-quality breast pump enough.

Customer Review: Best Product on the market
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this with the recent birth of my daughter and love it. With my last daughter I borrowed the original Medela Electric pump from a friend and although I had no problem with it, this one is much more advanced. The variable speeds and "Let Down" function make pumping quick, easy, and very efficient. I can easily pump 8 ounces in 15 minutes. It is a must have for any working mother. Although it is expensive, it is well worth it if you need to return to work and pump full time. I also liked the discreet backpack design so that you were not advertising to the world that you are a nursing mother!!! If you are pumping only part time then purchase a less expensive manual pump such as the Medela Harmony at only $34.99. But if you need to pump full time, invest in a good pump. It makes returning to work a little easier.

Customer Review: EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT
Summary: 5 Stars

When originally shopping for a breastpump, 6 months ago, I opted for the Ameda Purely Yours which worked fine up until last night when the motor died. For a full-time breastpumping mom...I needed a pump RIGHT AWAY. I went out and purchased the Medela and was satisfied from the very 1st moment I used it. I wish I would've stuck with my 1st choice and bought this one first. I am able to pump both breasts and get 8-9 oz in LESS THAN 10MINS., while with the Ameda it took about 20-25mins. I absolutely LOVE this pump! I plan on breastfeeding my son until he's 1 and will definitely be using this pump for our next child. I'd recommend this pump to all breastfeeding moms. I don't nurse my son at all...I pump 30-40 ounces per day...the Medela will make my job much easier and it's definitely quick. I love the knapsack too.
