Baby Products Reviews of Priori Convertible Car Seat - PenguinCustomer Review: Better than my Britax... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought the Maxi Cosi as a secondary seat for my husbands vehicle. I already had a Britax Marathon which I was pretty pleased with. I ended up putting the Maxi Cosi in my car and am using the Britax as the secondary seat because I liked the MC so much. I have a VERY difficult car baby on my hands. At 15 months he has NEVER fallen asleep in the car - even as a tiny baby he would wail whenever we were in the car for more than 15 minutes. I have had the MC for three weeks and he has fallen asleep in it twice now on the 10 minute trip from the grocery store. The recline feature is my favorite and whenever I see him start to look drowsy I lay him back and off to dreamland he goes! It is such a relief to know we could do a longer trip now and he is comfortable enough to sleep. The only negative thing about the seat so far is that the buckle is very difficult to depress. I sometimes have to try multiple times or use both hands to push it hard enough to get it to let go. Although, with the Britax my son had also unbuckled himself a few times so while it is a pain to try to unlatch this one it might be better than having one that is so easy.
Customer Review: First let me say.. Summary: 4 Stars
We got this on sale at Target...it was 50% off...so I got a $200 dollar car seat for $99.99. That said, it's a great car seat, though I am not sure I would have spent $200 on a car seat when there are comparable ones out there for less.
What I like best about this is the fact that it is easy to get in and out of the car.
We have five kids, though our oldest two will often not go out with us when we run to the store, etc..so we will take our smaller car...a Prius. this car seat is big, takes up the entire side of the backseat, but it is easy to get into position, and the straps certainly feel secure. However, if the entire family is going out we need to take our big van, this is one car seat we can get out of the Prius and into the van without a lot of uncomfortable tugging and contortionist acts. We had a graco infant car seat, and frankly it was such a pain to move that we bought another base, I don't feel the need to buy another car seat with this one.
Customer Review: Shoulder Straps TOO SHORT! Summary: 3 Stars
I really liked this carseat when I first started using it, last summer, when I had a 7 month old in lightweight clothing. Now that she's 15 months and has been wearing sweaters and winter coats, the main fault of this carseat is now VERY apparent: the shoulder harness straps are FAR TOO SHORT for kids living in cold climates! It's a struggle to get her little arms in and out from the straps with all the winter clothing in the way. It will only get tighter as I have to reposition the straps to the next higher "hole" as she grows. A super carseat in regards to safety, strap holders, recline, LATCH hookup, etc. Just be wary if you'll be using it in a cold climate... I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to friends here in Minneapolis.
I definitely prefer my Graco ComfortSport with the GracoPedic Foam over this one; the straps are extra long and my daughter seems to like it just as much as the Maxi-Cosi, and I bought it for $[...]instead of $[...].
Customer Review: LOVE it LOVE it LOVE it..... Summary: 5 Stars
We were excited to use the seat right away and even did an immediate test drive! Not only is it rated super safe, but our daughter is very compfy and can handle longer car rides. Yea!! We chose the penguin color so it would go with our black leather interior (vavavoom! looks great!). Although we had concerns about its size, it fits nicely in our PT Cruiser with room to spare. We love love love the easy recline, as it's a must have for when she conks out due to such a cozy seat. FYI..I did extensive research prior to making our decision and was quite surprised at the negative comments I had read on these seats. We haven't had any problems with the buckles, bulkiness, fabric etc....
Customer Review: love it, but the straps are too short! Summary: 3 Stars
We switched to this car seat when my son was 6 months and already 22 lbs (when he outgrew his Maxi Cosi infant seat, which I also loved). I love it. It looks nice, reclines nicely, seems comfortable for my son. Seems safe and secure. But he is now almost a year, and almost 30 lbs and over 30 inches tall and the straps are nearly too short for him. I think I can squeeze another month out of this seat before needing to change. And I really don't want to. I want to keep this seat until he reaches 40 lbs and reaches the top slots of the harness (we have one left to go). So... Sadly, I would suggest buying something else.
