Customer Review: A Nursery Must Have!

My daughter was 2 weeks old when we finally broke down and bought this wipes warmer. I had originally thought that this was only a luxury item, but quickly found out what a must have it was! Our daughter screamed every time a cold wipe touched her bottom, which made night time changings horrible. She was no longer in that "dozing" state - she was WIDE AWAKE! As soon as we started using the warmer, she would actually smile when being changed! What a turn around that was! Her night time changings no longer were such a shock and she easily went back to sleep. The wipes that we use do not work with the pop top, so we have to open the whole thing up, however, that's not a big deal. I add water every couple of days and change the foam pad every month. It does get pretty brown somethimes, but just add more water next time, or add it sooner. The wipes themselves have NEVER been brown. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I do not have a problem with water dripping out. This is such a terrific buy and even if a mother hasn't added it to her registry, I would buy it anyways. I've had this one for almost 18 months now and I really like this product.
The first thing I did however was to toss the weird little pad that they give you with it. It just seemed pretty unsanitory to me and I'd rather have my baby's wipes on a plastic surface that on some kind of... sponge.
I never had any problems with the wipes warmer damaging any of the furniture it's been sitting on. Right now I have it on a little chest that's just plain, natural wood, not even painted or anything.
Anyway, you really have to make sure to put a little water in every couple of days (at least once a week), which I just can't remember to do, so that the last two or three wipes are usually really dried up. That's an easy fix though... just put 1/4 cup or so of water on there and you're good to go.
If you forget about the water for over a week the last couple of wipes might get a little brown. No big deal - I just toss them and move with my life.
That's that.
Bottom line: Great product, very useful... Don't forget the water though!!!

I had this un-neccessary nursery item thinking that my November born baby would be more comfortable. . .boy was I wrong.
The first time I used it, I pulled a wipe out and noticed that they seemed a bit too warm for my baby's bum. I had to wait a few seconds before touching him with the wipe. This is my first big gripe. If it was a big job, I had to either pull a few of them out when I started chaning him or wait a few seconds before each wipe. . .a pain!
The second thing I noticed is the lid would not stay closed. So now, not only did my wipes get too hot, but I could not use the top wipe because it would be too dry. Wipes are not cheap and wasting a wipe is for that purpose is silly. That was strike two!
The thrid and final straw, and what made me throw this money wasted apperattus away was that when I got the bottom of the stack of wipes, I noticed that the wipe on the bottom was brown. 20 or so wipes were not as wet as they should have been, but the last one was fried.
Not worth the money or hassle!

Before buying this wipes warmer, I wasn't sure if we really "needed" one. But when I saw the reaction our newborn was having to cold wipes, I knew that it wouldn't hurt to try. Now I am happy that we did try it. I don't see the same reaction any more, so it seems to be helpful (even on a 100 degree California summer day).
This particular model seems to have a small problem with the latch on the pop-up lid. About every third time or so, it does not latch properly, and the lid pops back up. But with just the right touch, I eventually get it to latch. This seems to be the main brand on the market, so I would know any other to recommend.
The wipes do cool down fairly quick, so you need to use them immediately after removing them from the dispenser. This makes sense though, since you wouldn't want them to get so warm that they are hot to the touch.
I give it 4 stars. If it weren't for the latch problem, I might give it 5. A useful, optional item that is worth trying. You might find the same results as I did.

I bought this after using a borrowed one that was another brand. The other brand dried out the wipes terribly so that when I got to the bottom, the last ones were totally dry. So I wasted a lot of wipes. I had to return that one as my friend had another baby and needed it for herself. I bought this Ultimate Wipe Warmer after reading reviews, even the bad ones. I liked the fact that it fit in the diaper caddy that is on my changing table, whereas the other one had to sit at an angle.
I also like that the cushion in the bottom keeps the wipes moist. I have not had one dry wipe, well except when my hubby forgets to put the lid down, but don't all guys have problems with that?
I have learned that I can't put a whole package in, so I leave part of a package in a zip top bag. I also make sure I buy Pamper's One-Ups. It has to be the One-Ups or they will not pop up automatically.
Overall, this is a wonderful product and I am so happy I bought it. I actually found it for 19.99 in a store.
