Baby Products Reviews of Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes WarmerCustomer Review: Well worth the money Summary: 5 Stars
Out of all the baby products and gadgets we've bought, this has been one of the most impressive. First of all, you ask yourself if you need it. Let me tell you, it makes a big difference - especially on your baby's cranky days. Having her not startled with every wipe helps a lot. We also have a mobile over the changing table and having the changing process go smoothly has helped her really love that toy.
We've experienced no leaking over browning or smelly wipes like mentioned in some of the other reviews. Nor did we have to wash the moisture pad every other day. In fact, we've washed it maybe once a week and it's been working great. We've had this warmer for 3 months now which is when they recommend you to get a new moisture pad but ours still looks pretty good.
When you buy this, you may want to order a replacement pad right away because it's not sold on amazon. I would also recommend buying the diaper depot thing from the same company which this warmer fits right on top of. I believe having it on a level, sturdy surface like that has also prevented it from having any leakage.
It is true that these work much better with pampers wipes - which if you buy in the big economy boxes cost about the same as huggies. Honestly , we've had fewer rash issues since changing from huggies to pampers.
Anyway, this really is well worth the price especially given how many times you'll need to wipe your baby's butt. You'll be happy you got it - especially on those late night changes.
Customer Review: Good enough; not perfect Summary: 3 Stars
I waited until wintertime before I finally broke down and bought a wipes warmer. This product does warm the wipes nicely (without getting too hot), and I use Pampers pop-up wipes anyway, so I've never had a problem with getting wipes out. When you open the lid fully, for any reason, the condensation that builds up will likely spill a little bit of water, so I wouldn't put the warmer directly on any wood surface.
As far as the wipes drying out....I've found that just before it was time to add new wipes to the dispenser, the last 5 or 6 (at least) were pretty dried out. This isn't a crime, but it does annoy me to have to completely waste that many wipes each time you refill the dispenser. If that really doesn't bother you, then go for this warmer; overall it is good.
This warmer is also heavy and of course, being a plug-in appliance, you can't really put it on a corner of the changing table, so just consider that. I had to put mine on the top shelf (just below a drawer) of my changing table and reach down a little for the wipes each time. Just keep in mind that it won't be as convenient to store or put somewhere for everyday use as a plastic Pampers container would be.
I do think the warmer was helpful, but consider this, especially if you're on the go a lot anyway:
Unless you buy a travel warmer or take this warmer with you EVERYwhere you go, your baby is inevitably going to face a lot of "cold" wipes.
So, is this product helpful? Definitely. Is this product necessary? Certainly not.
Customer Review: Ignore any complaints - it's a great product Summary: 5 Stars
I'm registering for this for my second baby because my first baby recently kicked it off the table and the lid broke off. I love it so much that I'm still using it even though it's broken!
I only use Pampers wipes with it since they work the best (they pop up easily). I use other wipes (mostly gifts) in my travel container in the diaper bag. It WILL hold a whole refill pack.
My little girl has had no infections from the warm wipes as a couple have complained about. Different brands and types can cause that too. I prefer the Pampers sensitive type.
I bought a replacement pad for it, but I'm still on the original pad that it came with (after 16 months)! I just wash it whenever I add new wipes. You also have to add plenty of water (as it states in the instruction booklet) to keep the wipes and pad moist until it runs out.
Besides being just the right temperature for babies, it's better than the plain plastic wipes containers because it's weighted, so you can use one hand to grab the wipe while holding baby's legs with the other. Just push the button to open the lid, and grab the next wipe that pops up!
My ONLY complaint is that my baby is so used to the nice warm wipes that she doesn't appreciate being changed when we're traveling without the warmer.
I didn't register for it with my first baby. I thought it was a frivolous silly thing, but I'm glad I gave it a try when a friend gave it to us as a gift - it's a great product!
Customer Review: Be careful!! Ruined my table Summary: 1 Stars
This warmer works great at keeping wipes warm, a plus especially if you have a boy and don't want to get a surprise shower when you shock him with cold wipes. However,I will not recommend this product for two reasons. One, it ruined the cabinet that it sat on. The wood turned a lighter color and is very dried out. Unfortunately, when my son was born I used the top of an antique cabinet that was the right height, so I've completely destroyed it. I'll have to have it professionally refinished in order to restore it. The second complaint I have is that stupid pad. You do have to keep it moist, which isn't such a big deal. I generally remembered to do it. However, recently I went away for a week adn forgot to add water to it. When i returned, it smelled "cooked", so I opened the lid. I found the pad had turned dark brown and had stuck to the bottom of the warmer. I shudder to think of what would have happened if I'd left it longer. It might even have melted or caught fire! The pad tore when I peeled it off the bottom,, and as stated in another review, you cannot cannot cannot find the pads anywhere- you have to order them from prince lionheart. I am so annoyed that I just use the warmer cold, unplugged. It's nicer looking than the huggies or pampers wipes holders. If you are considering buying this, make sure you put something under it and are VIGILANT about maintaining the pad inside. If you're even a tad forgetful skip this item.
Customer Review: Wipes Warmer is just Too Cool!! Summary: 4 Stars
An absolutely awesome product! I agree with an earlier review: if you don't think warm wipes are that important, slap a cold one on your bare thigh at 2am and imagine the same shock on your wee one's tushy!! Made a believer out of ME, I can assure you!
If you'll fully moisten the pad each time you refill the wipes, they'll stay nice and moist, even if you accidentally leave the lid open. Although the pad may turn brown, the wipes don't, and the pad lightens up when re-moistened. The pads are long-lasting, but I agree with the company's recommendation to change them every 3 months to maintain their anti-microbial properties.
Like other reviewers, I also had trouble with the wipe access opening and wipes that don't continuously pop up, but now I simply open the whole lid. I've just learned to position the wipes so that they're easier to pull out. The opening for the wipes is my only complaint, and the only reason I didn't give the product 5 stars. I'd still actually award it 4.5 stars.(Perhaps they should utilize a soft, rubbery slit-type opening like the Huggies packages do?) If you have the warmer on a valuable piece of furniture, place it on something such as a tray or waterproof pad to avoid water damage from drips when opening the lid.
I strongly encourage all new mommies to put this on their registry. I didn't, and I'm so glad a friend gave me one anyway!! (But not nearly as glad as my baby!)
