Baby Products Reviews of Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes WarmerCustomer Review: not a luxury... a NECCESITY! Summary: 5 Stars
Okay when I had my first set of b/g twins 3 years ago, I was certain that I didnt need alot of the ridiculous baby products on the market. Well I will tell you that my twins SCREAMED every time we changed them, and we could not figure it out, I think the nieghbors even thought that someone was being murdered, SERIOUSLY! We honestly didnt know what was wrong until they were 2 and we heard someone else had the same problem, but our twins were almost potty trained, so we didnt get a wipes warmer. But with our second set of twins b/b, we registered for ALL of the "ridiculous" baby products, AND THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST! We wet the sponge very frequently, and we have never had a brown or dried out wipe. We replace the sponge about every 2-3 weeks or so. Unlike some other wipes warmers, this keeps the wipes warm long enought to actually wipe a babies bottom. We love them, our boys love them and we even had to buy a portable wipes wrmer! I am telling you that this product WILL save you many headaches. (we keep ours in the den by the PNP's(thats the most frequent changing station) and keep the travel one in the babies nursery) and in the diaper bag)
***** UPDATE
Well I just found the perfect wipe, as one of the next reviewers said, PAMPERS. They pop up nicely, and they never get dry. But if you are more interested in very moist, comfortable wipes, I think huggies are better. Or if you just want to save some money and dont care if the wipes dont pop up and get a little drier, get LUVS. But I think I would recomend Pampers, they are nice, just not as "fluffy" as Huggies. But when my boys have diaper rash I tend to use Huggies!
Customer Review: Pretty Good, But Not Great!! Summary: 3 Stars
My girlfriend used a wipes warmer when she had her first son, so when I was pregnant it was one of the first things I registered for. The idea is a great one. Babies do startle when you use a cold wipe.
When we started using the warmer we also purchased a ton of Huggies wipes, which arent made for this particular warmer. This should be noted on the packaging!! So we had to open the lid in order to use our Huggies wipes for the first couple of months. Also the Huggies wipes are too thick to fit an entire package in at once so you have to store about 1/3 of the wipes until you have used enough to replace them with. Kind of a pain.
We finally switched to the Pampers wipes (which I prefer anyway) and the whole package of Pampers wipes fit in at a time and they also pop-up like they are supposed to. The Pampers wipes are also more cloth like and a bit thinner so they stay wetter longer. The only thing with the Pampers wipes and the units' design is that the pop-up hole is too big so that most times I get 3 and 4 wipes at a time, rather than the one I need. It can get wasteful when you are changing just a wet diaper. The lid also sometimes pops open while I am pulling out a wipe so Im struggling with the warmer and the baby's legs and the poop, and again it can be a pain.
My biggest complaint is that the fresh pad seems to dry out pretty fast and it started to yellow almost immediatly. You can get a few rinses out of one fresh pad before having to replace it.
Overall, not a complete waste of money, but I wouldn't purchase this for someone else as a gift.
There has to be one out there with a better design.
Customer Review: Average Product w/ Mediocre Design Summary: 3 Stars
We have a newborn son, and decided to purchase this wipe warmer for the nursery.
It does a good job of keeping the wipes warm so it doesn't startle our son when we use them on him.
However, it will dry out wipes (and turn them yellow) if you don't use the Prince Lionheart refresh pads w/ it (and keep the pad refreshed on a weekly basis). Anyone thinking about buying this product should understand that they are signing up for buying the refresh pads as well. A single pad lasts about 3 months, and 2 come in a pack. If you use them as directed, you will never have wasted wipes due to drying or yellowing.
I agree w/ other reviewers that the "pull-through" doesn't work well for our wipes. We use Huggies wipes, and we frequently have to manually feed another wipe through so it is ready to pull at the next use. Sounds like other brands of wipes seem to work a bit better.
The other design issue we have w/ this product is that the lid frequently pops open on its own. It seems like a design issue w/ the latch/button on the top. We had to solve the problem by resting a clean diaper on top of the wipe warmer to keep the lid closed. This is obviously annoying.
In general, we are glad we purchased a wipe warmer. However, we realized after the purchase that its use is limited to the nursery. When we are out running errands, we use cold baby wipes. When we change the baby in any room other than the nursery, we use cold baby wipes. I think we'd purchase one again, but I don't think we realized when we purchased it how limited the use actually would be.
Customer Review: MUST for cool months - but buyer beware!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Living in Ohio, this is a MUST for cooler months, no matter how comfy warm your home may be. Believe me, our home is only 2 years old and as draft-free as Fort Knox's vaults...but, in the winter your baby's precious little bummy will love the nice feeling of warm wipes. Nothing about diaper changing my now 13mo old stands out in my memory more than the couple of middle of the night changes before I bought this -- where cold, wet wipe came into contact with nice, sleepy, warm bummy cheeks! But, buyer beware: you cannot buy the Ever-Fresh Anti-Microbial Pads ANYWHERE except online. No, Babies R Us has never and says they will never carry in-store, ditto on Toys R Us...and Baby USA - nope. Same with WalMart, KMart, Target, Federated Dept. Stores, and just about every baby boutique within a 50 mile radius of my city. So, my advice, buy this warmer and make sure and buy 1 Ever-Fresh pad refill kit (usuually includes 2) for each year you plan on using this wipe warmer...that way you will be stocked in advance. The idea here is that, if you are bad like me and leave for a month long Christmas trip and forget to unplug the warmer, only to come back to a brick glued to the bottom of the warmer, you can easily replace it. Or, at the very least, have a fresh one for each winter season you use it...which is what we've done, only used it during colder months. We most recently tried using a wet washcloth folded in the bottom to keep wipes moist until Target.com shipped the replacement pads to us for $10 total w/ s&h...but, not good for longterm solution, as I am sure bacteria would eventually take over!
Customer Review: Love Love Love!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this when I was pregnant after reading the good reviews online about it. My first baby was not as lucky to have an item like this, but I thought I would make this baby's life much better with one. I plugged it in the day we arrived home with the baby. The wipes were all warmed up by the first diaper change. Very cool. Just a very simple neat idea. I have had it 4 1/2 months now with no problems. Each week I add a little water and it is fine. You will know when to add water because the wipes start to get a little dryer. I have the pad in the bottom and have not replaced it yet. I really don't see a need too. The water is the key. The bottom few wipes did get brown from getting too dry, but I just leave them in there all the time now and just add new wipes on top. So far the only wipes I have used in it are the Huggies Cucumber scent (a nice shower gift)and they work fine. I have the Costco brand next in line, but I don't imagine there being any problems with them (although I'm sure the Huggies smell better). If you fill the warmer too full, they don't pull out easiy (they will rip), but that's easy to fix. Anyways, the warmer is nice. It is attractive and I love the little green night light. I have mine sitting right on top of the cushion of the changing table in the corner. The cord is plenty long enough to reach the outlet. My baby loves to have her diaper changed. My son I remember didn't enjoy it so much (poor baby with cold wipes). My daughter just smiles the whole time. Besides eating, I think that is the funnest part of her day!
