Baby Products Reviews of Prince Lionheart Ultimate Wipes Warmer

Customer Review: This is a "must-have" in our house!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

We have been using this warmer for 18 months and we love it. Others have said that this is a "luxury item", but I disagree. Spending $20 on something that you'll use for years to make diaper changes more comfortable for the baby isn't a "luxury" to me. Does your baby need this to survive, of course not... but isn't it our job to make our little ones as happy and comfortable as possible?

I have read the negative reviews some people have written on this warmer and I have to say - READ THE DIRECTIONS PEOPLE!
The Ever-Fresh pillow is not supposed to keep the wipes moist for 3 months without re-wetting it. The directions clearly state "Add water as necessary. Do not allow Ever-Fresh to dry out." This is not difficult, we just re-wet the pad every time we refill the warmer (about once a week). You are supposed to replace the pad every 3 months (for best results), but we have not replaced it that often. We replace the pad when it starts loosing its softness and it stays a little brown after re-wetting.

As far as people complaining that the wipes are "freezing cold" by the time they get to the baby - they must live at the North Pole. Yes, the wipes will cool down a little once you remove them from the warmer (simple physics people), but they are nowhere near being cold. This warmer really does make a difference in the wipe temperature. We travel frequently and my son always "protests" when unwarmed wipes touch his bottom (he tries to pull away and says "cold"). He never does this at home with the warm wipes. I have tried warming the wipes with my hands, but that doesn't seem to do anything at all. We are going to be spending a lot of time up North this winter, so we are buying another warmer for Grandma's house.

We use Huggies "reach-in" wipes and they work great. I haven't tried the "pop-up" wipes so I can't comment on those. We use `reach-in' so I can buy the big box of replacement wipes and use it to refill the wipe warmer and the travel wipe cases.

Hope this information helps you!

Customer Review: A must for my baby
Summary: 4 Stars

I did not have a wipes warmer for my first baby and he would scream through every diaper change so when I found out I was pregnant with my second baby I decided that I would get a wipe warmer this time. My husband thought it was a silly purchase but he was in Iraq after Andrew was born so he didn't have to deal with a screaming baby everytime his diaper was changed so I went against my husband and bought it anyway. Andrew's attitude toward having his diaper changed right away when I used the warm wipes and he still hates it when we are away from home and gets his tush wiped with room temp. wipes.

I like this wipe warmer because it has the pop up feature. I disagree with the person who wrote that the only ones that work are Pampers because Huggies has a line of wipes made especially for pop up wipe holders and wipe warmers. I only use Huggies wipes and haven't had a problem finding the pop up ones.

The pads you put in the bottom can be difficult to find as we don't have a Babies R Us nearby. Wal-Mart carries them but they are often out of stock so I buy a lot when I see that they are in. The pads are easy to use and re-wet fairly easily if you don't let them get too dry. If you do let them get too dry then you will have to let the pad soak in water for a few minutes so that it can fully absorb water again.

I only have one complaint about the wipe warmer itself. I change Andrew's diaper on his dresser using a contoured changing pad therefore the wipes warmer has to be on the dresser too. The plug for this thing is HUGE and I can't put the dresser against the wall all the way. The dresser is sitting about 3 inches away from the wall just because the plug is so big. It is just a minor thing but it bugs me nonetheless. Otherwise, I have no complaints about this product.

Customer Review: Realistic expectations ...
Summary: 4 Stars

Let me preface this by saying I didn't put this on my shower gifts as I thought that this was a waste of money. With that attitude and frame of mind ...

I got this as a shower present 2 years ago and have used it happily since then with no problems whatsoever. I would highly recommend it. It does it's purpose of keeping the wipes warm, esp in the winter. I'm realistic about my expectations. For the price, I think it would have been worth it to purchase on my own.

--To note, I don't always change the pillow as your supposed to (I think only 4 times in the past 2 years) but there is usually always water in it.
--If you run the pillow under water and work the "hardness" out it seems to lengthen the use. I have not had any problems with the lid.
--After a few weeks, I actually purchased a rack to put this on as the bottom does get warm and I didn't want it to hurt his dresser top (which doubles as a changing table).
--Are the last few wipes brown? Yes, but there are trade offs. It's also because the pillow hasn't been changed so partially my fault.
--No problems with the lids.
--I use mostly pampers wipes as I didn't not like huggies (too dry). But I did use huggies since I had purchased some. I didn't try any other brands so I didn't have any problems with "pop-ups" like others. I did my research on wipes before purchasing any and understand the product I was purchasing and if it was compatable with a wipes warmer. So again, its about realistic expectations for a product.

I haven't used any other wipe warming product so I have nothing to compare it to but I'm expecting baby #2 and will probably use this until it breaks and then will purchase a new one. Also, this has been in continuous use for the past 2 years.

Customer Review: WARM WIPES AREN'T ONLY FOR BOTTOMS!
Summary: 5 Stars

MY WHOLE FAMILY LOVES THIS GIZZMO! My older kiddos don't mind having their faces cleaned up with a warm fresh wipe! The baby doesn't flench when the wipe touches his little bottom...diaper changes are not cold and uncomfortable. When I need to clean the baby's face because of spit up or medicine running down his neck...the warm wipe is pleasantly accepted! Some reviews talked about the pop up lid not staying shut...RETURN IT AND GET ONE THAT WORKS! All products are subject to defects...mine has been in daily use for 7 months and no defects. I prefer Huggies wipes so I just use the normal lid function instead of the pop up lid...I think having that option is great! SOME REVIEWS COMPLAINED about the foam pad ....the instructions tell you to replace the foam pad (goes at the very bottom of the container ...moistened with water..) every 3 months but I have never replaced mine. If you remember to rinse it out, squeeze it out, and then rewet it ...every few days...then it just keeps on doing it's job. (ONE REVIEWER thought the pad to be 'unsanitary'...WHY? You are not using the pad to wipe the baby ...it's just resting under perfectly clean baby wipes. That one I can't figure out! ha) After a few months it may get stiff and brown a bit...if you forget to maintain it properly. (When I forget, I add a little hand soap and give it a good sudz and it's back to normal.) It says it will not brown the wipes and it doesn't...but the foam pad might as I said before. I know this wiper warmer is wonderful...for those who think it isn't they either need to EXCHANGE it for a new one or read the instructions and the product 'claims' more clearly...and not be so negative! Our family gives it 2 thumbs up...and one baby bottom up!

Customer Review: top doesn't stay shut
Summary: 1 Stars

My husband bought this warmer when our daughter was born. He also bought one by DEX (Target sells them and Walmart used to), not the travel one they sell here, but the full size one. Both warmed the wipes well enough, but I found the top of the Prince Lion Heart one didn't like to stay closed after a few months of using it (daughter is now 12 wks old). The DEX just lifts ups and so you don't have to worry about latches wearing out. I just bought another DEX brand warmer after the lid to the Prince Lion Heart one kept popping up on me and wouldn't stay shut. The plastic latch eventually wears out, so although it's a good idea in theory, in reality it just doesn't hold up. Also, I've found that I like the design of the DEX one better...the wipes warm from the top down, so you don't have to worry about an "Ever Fresh" pad to change at the bottom. And it just makes more sense to warm from the top instead of the bottom--you use the wipes from the top of the container, not the bottom, so who cares if the bottom of the pile of wipes is warm? As you use the wipes, the air in the container stays warm and keeps the wipes warm all the way to the last one in the container. The browning that people are talking about--I think I know what it is since the Ever Fresh pad that I have in mine is turning brown, even though I change it more often than what the manufacturers suggest and I use filtered water to moisten it instead of tap water. It still turns brown. Another reason I chose to buy another DEX warmer--no pads to buy! It's just another thing to spend more money on and with 4 children, I don't have that luxury! Definitely go with the DEX Baby Products wipe warmer rather than this one.
