We have had this in our Suburban for 18 months now and have not once had a problem installing a carseat or damage to our leather seats. I would agree that it would be nice if it were taller to protect the top of our seat when using the top tether strap but I understand that not all seats are as tall as ours. As an EMT & LPN who knows how to install a carseat properly I have no fear of the carseats moving or not working properly in an accident. I cannot budge the seats to either side at all when I try to forcefully move the seat with my whole body weight behind me. As with all carseats you need to make sure you take the time to install them correctly everytime.Customer Review: Excellent Product

I have had this product in my car for 1 ½ and it has kept my leather from getting dirty and dented. We have a Britax car seat and it is quite heavy so in other peoples cars the car seat tends to leave pressure marks on the seat with this devise it looks as if nothing were ever there when the seat is removed. We love it. It catches spills and snacks and prevents stains on the seat. I take is out every once in a while and hose it down good. I leave it out in the sun to dry and it is as good as new. Long as there is no sticky residue from juice or milk you could just simply vacuum it up. It dose however show how nasty and dirty your children can be!Customer Review: Protects your seats

I'm actually returning to buy an extra one. I originally bought it for my babies car seat but with the intention on testing it with a booster seat for my toodler. Works great on both! We just bought a new SUV and I'm convinced this will keep the seats like new for a long time. It has 3 things like I just love about it. One; it's wide and covers the whole individual seat (even the edge where a lot of footprints seems to go when a child is climbing into her/his seat). Two; has side walls to keep crumbs and liquid like it says. Three; very thick and durable. I highly recommend it and we have had many friends comment on it. My daughter's Graco booster seat headrest made a depression on my car's leather seat, so I bought this seatsaver. But I found the back portion useless. It is not high enough and does not cover the entire back. The bottom tray also slides while turning corners, even when my daughter is sitting on the booster seat. I am using a woolen cloth behind the car seat headrest to prevent the depression.
I have the Super Mat car seat protector on my other car with cloth interior, it does not have the back portion as high as this one, but it is much better than this seatsaver. The super mat also works great on leather seat and does not slide.

We bought a car seat protector (not this one) and took it along with our infant car seat carrier to the local police station, since we've read that 70-80% of car seats are improperly installed. The officer who installed the seat would not use it, saying that after-market products like this are absolutely not recommended. The only thing that passes muster with public safety folks, apparently, is a piece of rug pad, which helps the base grip the seat in addition to providing some protection of the upholstery. Doesn't look great, but it's better than thinking you've installed your seat securely when in fact it isn't safe!
