Customer Review: Nifty Gizmo.

My wife picked up this interesting little gizmo and I get a kick out of using it. Boy, it will really mix a bottle of formula fast! And no lumps or clots to stick in the nipple. Basically, our son is fed mother's milk, but he's growing fast, has a growing hunger and sometimes mom just can't keep up. So, she pumps milk and we mix a little formula in with her milk to ease the situation. Our boy doesn't like straight formula and grimaces and refuses to consume it (unless he's extremely hungry). However, he'll take a 50/50 mixture of mother's milk and formula without even noticing, so that's what he's getting at times and this little mixer will really churn them together. I have only two dislikes for the mixer. First, it spins so fast and powerful that it foams the milk. So far, this has not been a major problem, especially since I let the mix set a bit, and I'm careful with the mixing so that it isn't overly churned. Second, it is a bit awkward to use in tall bottles. Some reviews have complained of durability problems, but we've had none as yet.
I wonder what else I can use a gizmo like this for. Hmmmmm. It might be real good at the bar for fixing small pitchers of martinis. The problem is I don't have a bar and don't drink martinis. Maybe I could use one in the workshop for mixing and stirring up small amounts of paint. Maybe, I'll give it some more thought.

Customer Review: Seemed wonderful UNTIL we had to replace this mixer WEEKLY (or every 3 days!)... No wonder there isn't a money back guarantee!

We are the parents of a baby boy who has reflux issues. We have to thicken his formula (7 tsp's rice + 3 scoops of formula) We've gone to great lengths to find a mixer that works while eliminating air bubbles. Though this mixer did exactly that, we had to replace this mixer weekly and sometimes even more frequently than that! Every 3 days sometimes! We've been spending $30 + tax a month to keep this mixer as a staple product that we only use 7 times a day. HELLO PRINCE LIONHEART, MOM'S NEED DEPENDABLE PRODUCTS BECAUSE WE USE THEM A MILLION TIMES A DAY!!! ESPECIALLY IN FORMULA PREPARATION! We are finished with this mixer!!! The motor is SO cheap, isn't powerful enough, and when we have to replace this mixer so often it's just not worth the hassle! Do not buy this mixer unless you want to have to replace it often. Most hand held mixers are cheap and we are still looking for a solution. No wonder Prince Lionheart doesn't offer a money back guarantee or we would get every penny back for every mixer we HAD to buy because they were crappy in the first place. The 'new mixers' by munchkin suck worse than these do. We bought a different mixer today at the vitamin shoppe and hopefully it works out for us.Customer Review: Junk!

Even though this is a cheap item, I would have to say don't waste your money on this horrible made item! The switch is very sensitive and when you just press it, it will turn on and then once its on the only way to turn it off is to take off the battery cover. It mixes well but makes a mess once it stops turning on and off. I have to put my bottles deep in my sink and pull it out of the bottles with it still spinning. The only reason I am still using it is because my daughter is on an 8oz bottle and when you are just shaking the bottle all the powder goes into the nipple and does not mix well. Thankfully, she is almost off formula. Will definately purchase the more expensive items for the next child!
Also, smaller than expected! Does not reach the bottom of bottles.

I bought this based on the reviews and I'm overall happy with the purchase. We recently had to switch our baby to a rice starch formula which is thicker and therefore much harder to mix by just shaking. We're also using the Playtex Drop-In bottles, so we can't mix in the bottle...I don't know if that makes the difference, but the only problems I can see is that it does splatter if you don't have a tall enough cup to put it in and it makes alot of foam and bubbles. It will get all the lumps out though which is what I wanted it for.
So the conclusion: If you want a small mixer to get out all the lumps and cut the time of preparing bottles, this is for you. Just watch the foam and find something deep enough to make sure you don't get the little splatters it will create.

My husband and I LOVE this mixer - we first used the Munchkin one, but didn't like that you had to constantly hold down the button to make it work, with this one you just flip the switch and it stays on. We use this to make a big batch of formula for the day (daycare mandates we have all bottles pre-made for the day) and it works well. I like that it helps mix the formula and that there are no clumps left so there is no need to shake the bottles when you're done - so I know the nutrients are distributed evenly/correctly. This is worth the money!
**After 2 months of use, though, the first one we purchased broke - not sure how/why, but the mixer came out of unit when we were using it, so we have since purchased a replacement. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.**
