Baby Products Reviews of Playtex Premium Nurser Newborn Gift SetCustomer Review: Easy to supplement formula when also breatfeeding Summary: 5 Stars
My doctor gave me the sad news that I wasnt producing enough milk for my baby and that I would have to supplement after each feeding. I had placed this set on my registry because I knew I wanted to pump my supply to bottle feed. Our daughter was able to go back and forth between breat and bottle at each feeding very easily. It was rocky the first 2 days but afterward, smoothe sailing!
These bottles are really easy to clean.
The nipples fit securely and I have never had any problems leaking.
The drop-in bags are disposable but very, very durable...I give them a good washing, and reuse them!
Also, we had Avent bottles too, these nipples were much harder and much longer. Even thought they were "slow flow" the formula still spurted out much faster than the Playtex. We tried going back and forth btwn breast/bottle using the Avent bottles but our daughter would get so frustrated and VERY messy.
This is a GREAT set I highly recommend for new parents whether breastfeeding or bottle feeding!!
Customer Review: A Great Alternative Summary: 5 Stars
I am a breastfeeding mom, and I was very reluctant to give my son any kind of bottle. But, when I decieded to go back to work, I knew I had no choice. I first tried regular glass nursers with orthodontic nipples. He would take it initially, but after a few sucks became so angry. Then I saw these at my area Babies 'R' Us store, and I knew these had to be the ones. the shape of the Natural Latch nipple is great. My sitter loves the ease of the drop-in liners, especially when she has one other infant in her charge, to be able to get a bottle together quickly is a nessecity. The liners do get to be costly, but I have to say the convienience of only having to take my stored milk to the sitters everyday, I can leave the actual nursers there, is great! I have never had a problem with him being fussy giving him the breast at home after having the bottle all day. I love them! You can try buying a single 4oz nurser to try it out first. They sell them in most supermarkets (Safeway, Giant Food, SuperFresh). And of course I highly recommend them.
Customer Review: Not air proof Summary: 3 Stars
I got these bottles because of the great reviews. There are pro's & con's with anything and it really depends on the person and what they whould like to scarafice. Pro's - disposable liners, no bottle cleaning, easy to heat up in just hot tap water for when you are visiting or out, variety in nipple shapes. Con's - the large width of the nipple does not allow the baby to get all the formula without sucking air. You cannot measure how many ounces the baby is drinking until done. When preparing bottles you need to measure formula with a measuring cup since the liners are not reliable in measurements. It is almost impossible to get every little air bubble out, especially when a newborn only drinks 2-3 oz a feeding. And my biggest gripe is that when you stop to burp the baby and set the bottle upright the liner fills with air, and when you have less then 2 oz. in the bottle it is impossible to push out all the air. I am now exploring other bottles. I have a fussy/gassy 5wk old baby and am now trying Dr. Brown's.
Customer Review: Mom of 3, great product!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm having our 3rd little baby on April 1st and of all the things that have changed in the last couple years, these bottles are something I've never doubted. They are so convenient and like someone mentioned are BPA free which is very important. I like the new storage system out and am excited to use it. Nice that it comes with this starter bottle system.
We had the original nursers for my boys which work exactly the same as these, but this starter kit comes with a breast pump attachment. If you don't plan to breastfeed or pump, I'd get the original kit and save some money, but both are great. Also we saved some money by getting Walmart version liners which work perfect with this system and are also BPA free.
And if you are pumping, the Lansinoh freezer bags for breastmilk fit perfectly in these bottles so if you store a lot of milk consider these bags. After thawing milk, you don't have to transfer containers saving nutrients.
Definitely not a first time parent mistake purchase.
Customer Review: Love Playtex Bottles Summary: 5 Stars
I think playtex is the best brand of bottles out there. they are so easy to use and clean, especially when you use the nursers with the drop in liners. we started our daughter on the avent 4 oz. bottles, but when we left our bottle sterilizer at home over christmas when we were visiting family, we decided to try the playtex nursers as her next size. these things were so much easier and i think she liked them better. the beauty is that you only need a few of these, and we just bought a bunch of nipples. when we go on trips, we only bring one bottle that we rinse out or wash, and replace with a clean nipple for every feeding. the liners can get a little pricey but i think it's worth it. we have been in the process of remodeling our kitchen, and without a dishwasher and running water (except for the bathroom) these bottles have let me keep my sanity. now that we have these ammenities again, i still love the playtex bottles and bought even more to take to daycare. the parts are interchangable and you just can't go wrong.
