Baby Products Reviews of Playtex Premium Nurser Newborn Gift SetCustomer Review: Best Bottles Summary: 5 Stars
I used both the Avent bottles and these Playtex. Based on my experience the Playtex bottles are the best. Of all the nipples on the market these ones are most like the breast so it's easier to do both. I didn't use these with my first child and she spit up after every single feeding, with this baby she hardly ever spits up. I believe it's because of the bottle, it seems to go down easier and because there is not air she's not spitting up. The avent bottles leak when you don't put them together right, you have to be careful not to overtighten. Also with the avent bottles, even the slowest nipple seems to come out too fast, she always seems like she's gulping it down. My only suggestion with these bottles, which again comes from experience, is to spend the extra money and buy the drop in liners. The bag liners always seemed to leak no matter how I assembled them and also it was harder to measure the formula into the liners. Because I was so afraid of them leaking I would pull the liner down further and therefore wouldn't get the full amount the bottle would take. I have had no problems with the drop in liners leaking or breaking, no matter how much abuse I put them through!
Customer Review: Veteran Mom Loves These Bottles Summary: 5 Stars
I have three daughters....10, 7, & 4 months. I used the original Playtex bottles with my older daughters and they were great. Even when I would get tired of buying the liners and would try other reusable bottles...I would always go back to the Playtex. During this last pregnancy..I couldn't wait to try the Playtex Premiums!!! My baby is on Nutramigen and her pediatrician requests the powder because it is easier to digest; she also has reflux and he suggested these bottles to help her with that problem. She VERY RARELY spits up. On the reusable bottles, it left a film and they were hard to clean. I really wanted to use the VentAire Natural Shapes, but she would still spit up. These are so easy for me! I am a full time legal assistant to a Judge, have 2 very active older daughters, and a husband that is back in college & works fulltime.....therefore, time is of the essence!!! Scrubbing bottles is the last thing I need each night!! I HIGHLY recommend these bottles for their convenience. Also, on the leaking liners...everynow and then I have one to leak..but if the top is on tight and you push the air out gently....the liners are great! THANK YOU PLAYTEX!!!!
Customer Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
My baby was breast fed for the first 2 months. We used a nipple shield by Medela but as she got older the nipple shield was just not cutting it when it came to my baby being full. I decided to pump but when my baby was fussy I couldn't pump every 3-4 hours like I needed to so my supply dropped. I didn't buy this starter set, I bought a few 4 ounce bottles and gave my baby what milk I had pumped and formula. I have now bought the 8 ounce bottles and use them also. These bottles are great. My baby burps right away and is never gassy. With breast feeding she hardly ever burped. We use the drop in liners and have had NO problems with leaks. I also heat her formula up by putting hot water in a cup, putting the formula in a liner and dropping the liner into the warm water. Then I mixed it up with a spoon to make sure there are no cold spots, test it and put the liner into the bottle and feed my baby. You also don't have to worry about water dripping off the liner and getting on baby because of the plastic they are made of, the water does not stick to the liner. When I pull the liner out you can't even tell it has been sitting in water.

Customer Review: Not worth it. Summary: 2 Stars
First off, the person who wrote about her ingenious husband who invented the trick of squeezing the air out before screwing the top on? Yeah, I'd call him creative, but not the one who 'invented' that trick. I had to giggle to myself and then post this publicly... myself and my whole group of friends used that trick. Secondly, the liners are too expensive, and third, how in the world do you mix formula in these things? They worked great for breastmilk, but the hassle of having to mix formula in a seperate container and then pour it into the liners was just too much for me at 3 am with a screaming kid. Even waiting to warm it up under hot running water took too long. Give me the regular bottles any day.
PS- bisphenol-A... what about high fructose corn syrup, cargeenan (which is the sludge that comes from soybean processing and is put in nearly every food on the market as a preservative) and even - gasp- the probability that your kid might someday eat a bug that has eaten off a chemically-treated cornfield! I'm all for protecting your kids but you can't save them from everything and there are much more harmful substances out there.
Customer Review: Perfect for breastfed babies and those without dishwashers Summary: 5 Stars
I had been given a hospital grade breastpump as a shower gift, to ensure I could keep breastfeeding even when I went back to work, but was worried about what bottles to use. Originally, I was going to go with the Avent, but I read too many reviews that said you had to put them together just right to make them work properly, and having a husband who is vision impaired, that just didn't seem like a good idea. I decided to buy this set based on all the wonderful reviews, it seemed to good to be true. But guess what, it's not. We introduced one bottle a day starting at 4 weeks, and I was prepared for an ordeal. I had my mother in law give him his first bottle, and he took it without a single problem. After a day or two, he even took them from me without a problem. I love the fact that I don't have to be constantly scrubbing bottles, and that the liners are pre sterilized, sure, it may cost a bit more, but being a working mom, time with my baby is more important than having to spend extra time at the sink washing dishes, it's worth it. Especially with the breastmilk storage system, it's really meeting all of our needs perfectly.
