Baby Products Reviews of Playtex Premium Nurser Newborn Gift SetCustomer Review: Awesome Bottles and save you from washing bottles all night long! Summary: 5 Stars
I love these bottles! My mother and sister recommended them to me because they are so easy and sterile. The nipple is nice and wide making it easy for my daughter to latch on. Also, hardly any air sneaks in. However, they may be a little more expensive in the long run because you have buy the liners but who wants to be washing and sterilizing bottles all the time?!?!?! ESPECIALLY when you do not have a dishwasher. (For that I highly recommended the ADVENT MICROWAVE STEAM STERILIZER...another EXCELLENT product!) I tried many other bottles, including Gerber, Evenflo, and Advent. Hated Advent - leaked way too much and they are so big.
One helpful hint: don't bother buying the smaller package of 4oz. bottles. Your baby will "grow" out of them quickly. Just buy the 8oz. bottles; you will need them in the long run.
Bottom line: you will not be disappointed with these bottles!
Customer Review: Great! Summary: 4 Stars
The Playtex Nurser system works great for my breast fed son. Though he still nurses at night I began using these bottles during the day when he was nearly two weeks old. He had no problem with the transition between breast and bottle. The only difference I've noticed is that he eats much faster when taking the bottle and I make a point to burp him after every two ounces to prevent tummy aches. The Playtex system is sooo easy to use and clean. The Drop-In liners are a breeze and make for easy travel and clean up. The liners can be expensive but there are other brands on the market (Target, Walmart). I stick with the Playtex liners as I've had trouble with the Target liners leaking. I've been impressed with these bottles and will continue to use them. I do recommend only buying the 8 oz. bottles however because they "outgrow" the 4 oz bottles so quickly! My son was up to 5 oz by four weeks of age!
Customer Review: Playtex fan Summary: 3 Stars
I have used Playtex since my first was born (98') and love almost all of their products. The Premium seems to fall short because of the hard plastic instead of the soft like in the original(the premium scrathes easily). I have had several of the Premium crack because of this, you know accidents happen. Their is also a price difference not much but worth mentioning. My advice is to buy the regular, Im not sure why they call them premium the only thing thats new is the type of plastic and the colors of the bottles. All of the benefits of Playtex disposables can be found in the original. And I have to agree with those who say that the bottles with the built in burper are a plus. But there is a solution that I have found in the originals that air will not come back in if you put the cap back on it. Also I have home tested these bottles and the originals last longer and look newer longer than the premium.
Customer Review: not happy with the nipples Summary: 3 Stars
I too had a problem with the nipples of these bottles. my son latched on and accepted the nipples fine but he was getting frustrated with the slow flow nipple as he got older. I have not seen medium flow nipples for these bottles anywhere so I had to go straight to fast flow. It took him a while to learn to pace himself. Then I started cereal in his bottle and thought the idea of the tri-cut nipple designed especially for bottles with cereal was great. too bad absolutley nothing comes out of these nipples. I also needed more bottles and they only come with slow flow nipples. I now have a million slow flow nipples and no use for them. I do like that I can label the liners without having to write on the actual bottles, but it does get annoying having to run out and get liners and it's expensive after a while. Wal-mart makes a generic liner that is a lot less expensive than the playtex liners.
Customer Review: THE BEST Summary: 5 Stars
Like many of the other reviews you will read, I started out with the Avent bottles because there were supposedly "the best" bottles to use. In fact they were very unreliable. Too much air flowed through it, they leaked, and the slow flow was too fast for my newborn. Then I discovered Playtex, disposables and Ventaire. These are the BEST bottles you can ever invest on. They really do live up to its promise. It is really good on my baby's stomach. No more gas, less spitting up and it is more convenient to prepare. The best part is that the disposables are designed to fit right on to the bottle. You don't have to tie or clip the bags anymore. The only down part about these bottles is that they recommend boiling the bottles for sterilization instead of using steam sterilizers which I have and is more convenient. Other than that I highly recommend choosing PLAYTEX!
