These bottles are great as far as not having to clean them all the time because of the liners, but that is about the only pro I found. When you are trying to squeeze the air out (which takes what seems like forever when you have a screaming baby anyway), sometimes they bust and you have to start all over...not to mention a waste of expensive formula or breastmilk. Second, once your baby is down to a couple of ounces left in the bottle, it is impossible to reach your fingers up in there to get any air out. Third, there is no way to heat these bottles in the car. I have a Munchkin car bottle warmer but it doesn't work on these bottles because of the liners. The milk does not actually touch the bottle so there is no way to heat it. Not very convenient for long or short road trips. I switched to AVENT and my baby is like a different baby. I didn't realize that he was unhappy with these bottles until I changed, but I see a big difference now.Customer Review: Wonderful for Gassy Babies!

...Our doctor suggested trying the Playtex Nursers (we use the traditional, not the premium) and all of her problems went away after she started using these bottles. They have plenty of different nipple options (you can use the new silicone nipples with the older system), and much less to wash due to the liners. We premix two containers of formula in Tupperware Salad Shakers to leave in the fridge, so we just pour into the bottle and heat up. If we're on the go I fill one bottle and put it in a bottle bag, and bring along a small can of premixed formula just in case. I don't know what we would have done without these bottles when she was younger, they were a lifesaver! ...We still use these bottles today (she is now nine months), and they even make training spout nipples to use to help with the transition to a sippy cup. These bottles are a great buy if you have a paticularly gassy baby, I would recommend these to everybody.

Why playtex would mess with something that worked perfectly fine for years, I have no idea. I used the original latex nipples & 'pull-tab' bags 20 years ago when my children were babies. They never had a problem going from breast to the 'old' type Platex nipples & tab-bags. But I guess some techno-wizard thought it best to 're-invent' them. These new 'drop-in' bags, combined with the silicone nipples (now in a staggering variety of 'flow-rates'), are the WORST!! I recommended the Playtex nursers to my daughter when she asked me about the best bottle for when she weaned her daughter. How upset was I when they turned out so bad. The amount of air that leaks in & goes to the baby is awful - worse than the regular ole' plastic ones from 50 years ago. I could actually hear baby sucking in the air & bubbles gurgling in her belly. I returned all the 'drop-ins' & bought the tab-bags & old standby latex nipples. I used these bottles with my now 2 year old. We both loved them. We breastfed for almost a year, but because I worked and pumped, she needed to learn to bottle feed as well. At the advice of her doctor, we gave her the first bottle around 1 week old. She never had a problem with nipple confusion. The bottles were great for pumping into and could be used with the Playtex liners or other brands. I loved the ease of storage of breastmilk in the playtex liners or others. The bottles were easy to clean as well. I know many people swear by Avent or Dr Browns because they claim to be so unique and special (even though so many reviews talk about leaks, etc), but I found these to be just perfect. Playtex has many different options for additions/variations to please each individual baby (different nipples, bottle size,etc). Skip the gimmicks and tricks and consider these. I started out using these bottles, and had problems when my son would suck for an hour on the slow flow nipple. We went to buy medium flow nipples, and Playtex's medium flow nipples are the wrong shape/texture! For some reason, Playtex doesn't make medium flow nipples in the same shape as their silicone. My son was gulping air, which caused excessive gas/spitting up. He couldn't figure out the new nipple. I did like the drop-in liners, but when I ran out of the ones I received at my shower, I found them to be too expensive. It's twice as much for the drop-in kind than the regular flat ones. And the flat ones are impossible to put in the bottle while holding baby. I also found them to occasionally "split" when attaching, also hard to figure out how much to fill. Do you follow the ounces on bottle or liner?? So in the end, mostly because of nipple issues, I switched to Avent and haven't had any problems.
