Baby Products Reviews of Playtex Playtex VentAire Advanced Standard Bottle Gift SetCustomer Review: Not for my son. Summary: 1 Stars
I registered for these bottles I am a new mom and thought the variety was great. We used the stage one nipple and my son was able to suck down his formula with no problem infact way to quick. He would struggle with feeding time. He was so gassy and had horrible reflux, that during feeding he would arch his back stffin his body and cry. I did have a recommendation to switch to the Dr. Brown bottles which made a huge diffrence. However, he was still spiting up and still a little gassy just not as bad and it was managable, their stage 1 nipples were to small and the stage two were to big. We had gone on a camping trip and I bought the Playtex disposable bottles for easier cleaning. I also had done some research on these bottles and found several people liked them better then the Dr. Brown. So I tried them and my son is doing much better he dosen't even spit up anymore. So if you like the ventair I think you would like the disposable much better. My sons Dr. wanted to put him on an antacid but I was not comfortable with giving him medication at such a young age I wanted to see if I could solve the problem, which I have done completly with the Playtex disposable bottles!
Customer Review: no problems with this bottle Summary: 4 Stars
I use these bottles exclusively now. The ones I have were hand-me-downs from a friend whose daughter loved them and son hated them. I've had no problems with anything wearing out. Of course the disk will leak if you don't insert it correctly, but it is not difficult to figure it out. The nipples occasionally collapse while drinking, but again, it's not too difficult to open the bottom of the bottle while the baby eats, and relieve the pressure. There is NO leakage from the nipple around baby's mouth. Because of all the parts, they are a bit of a pain to wash, which I do by hand. Gas is not a problem for my boys, whether due to this bottle or not. Overall I would recommend this bottle if your baby can work it out with the stage 1 or 2 nipples. Stage 1 nipples work fine for my premature twin sons, but I know that not all babies can deal with them. I thought maybe the breastfed babies did better with the nipples because they are used to working harder at the breast, but after reading much of the feedback, I think, like for any baby product or toy, it's just a question of individual baby preference and you just have to experiment with what works for your baby.
Customer Review: it's ok -not great-not terrible Summary: 3 Stars
My son actually loves this bottle otherwise i might have switched to something else. It isnt that the bottle doesnt do what is advertised-i found that it DOES reduce the amount of air swallowed during feedings... it is just that you have to have all of the many parts in exact alignment otherwise you either have a leaky bottom or a collapsing nipple. (this means that after each cleaning you are spending a little bit of time putting each bottle back together) That having been said, once we figured out the seal on the bottom sometimes needs to be readjusted prior to feeding (you need to hold it upside down to get in there if there is formula inside), we are 90% happy with these bottles. I do agree that the stage one nipples are sooooo slow that unless you take a pin or knife to the hole you'll spend hours feeding your newborn. (it gets better once your baby is old enough to handle the stage two) I can't say one way or another if we'd do anything differently..the time and rare inconvenience of a spill or inverted nipple is a small price in exchange for a less gassy baby. (and no, they dont leak or collapse everytime...or even everyday...but it does happen).
Customer Review: Practically perfect in every way Summary: 4 Stars
I used these for both my kids and will definately have them for my 3rd and then 4th. They ARE a pain to clean that is if you let them get built up with gunk on the bottom. I found that I had to clean them REALLY good every other day to keep gunk away. Also, if you find a MIA bottle that fell behind the couch or etc, and you can link it within a few days, a good soak in hot HOT water will clean it ok. These kept air out of my kids and worked best with stage 2 nipples. BTW they are like $2.00 in most stores, kicking the pants off other nipple prices. It all comes down to a good bottle brush, Dawn, hot water, and patience. Also, all you have to do is call Playtex and tell them you have a faulty seal and they send you a new one. I said I had a few bad ones, they sent me a drawer full. If you want a good bottle buy these! PS I'd cheat and use the micro, adding a dash of cold water from the fridge and shook for a good minute. My kids never had any problems with hot spots. Just take off the nipple and warm it 10-15 secs at a time. We discovered this trick one long sleepless nite. No burned mouths here. :)
Customer Review: Best bottles for my baby Summary: 5 Stars
My newborn son was very allergic to ALL formulas out on the market, and finally ended up getting a prescription formula that was hypoallergenic and not soyed based. He was still having problems with spitting up and so I decided to switch his bottles from Gerber(which were terrible for him) and try the Playtex Ventaire. What a world of difference. Not only did his spitting up completely stop but he actually started to develop more of an appetite and feeding him became a joy as all my stress about him not getting enough formula faded away. He was happy, healthy and never had gas problems with these bottles. The bottles never, NEVER leaked, and were a breeze to clean. My husband would even warm them up in the bottle warmer, on low for about five minutes and the formula temp was always just right for our little one, never too hot. I would HIGHLY recommend these bottles to anyone having a baby. Breast is best, but if your a Mom like me who couldn't breast feed for medical reasons or has just chosen not to, then I would suggest HIGHLY that you give these bottles a try. They are the most perfect bottle you can buy!
