Customer Review: Great Bottles!
Summary: 5 Stars

We got these bottles for my first son who is 14 months old and loved them! In the beginning they were tricky for my husband to get together with out them leaking, but once we figured them out they were fine. The best advice I have for them is to make sure you push the disc all the way down. We are now using the same bottles with our second son who is a month old. I have never washed the bottles by hand, I always use the dishwasher and I have never had any problems with needing to "stretch" the discs. The stage one nipples needed to be poked a little when they are new because the hole seemed to be closed, but once we did that we had no problems at all with them. We have had very few problems with gas, but I think all babies get a case of gas no matter what you use to feed them.

My first son had some problems with reflux and we put cereal in his bottles, the stage two nipples worked perfect for that. They can seem like a lot of work with all the parts, but once you get the hang of putting them together it is very easy and fast.

I do agree with the other review that said the 6 oz. bottles are difficult to make a 6 oz bottle with powder formula. There isn't much extra room. But the 8 oz bottles work fine!

Hope this helps!

Customer Review: Good for switching from breast to bottle
Summary: 4 Stars

I breastfed my son for almost three months. At three weeks I introduced a bottle of expressed milk with a Medela bottle. He took to the bottle right away but got VERY gassy. I tried the Playtex drop-ins that we got as a shower gift and they didn't help. I bought a Ventaire bottle and that did the trick.
I did have one bottle that leaked, but only the one. Early on the nipples would collapse but the Playtex people told me that if you stretch the rubber insert before you put the bottle together it would prevent that, and it seems to help.
It is a pain to clean all of the parts, but I feel like I am getting the bottle cleaner because I am taking it apart than I would if it didn't come apart. I generally wash them by hand.
I gave the bottle four stars vs. three with mothers who breastfeed in mind. My son has no problems with the stage 1 nipples - my guess is that this is because he started on the breast where he had to work for his milk. Even now that he is weaned I am in no hurry to switch him to the stage 2 nipple as I have read that breastfed babies generally have straighter teeth because of how they have to suck on the breast. I think these nipples replicate that and will hopefully have a similar beneficial effect.

Customer Review: Annoying, but worked for us
Summary: 4 Stars

To be honest, I can't stand these bottles. They are a pain to assemble, you can only warm them in a pot of hot water, and you cannot use steam sterilization. That being said, they are the only bottle/nipple system that worked for us. My daughter is an overzealous eater who chokes and gags on every other system out there. Consequently she had horrible gas and was always crying in pain. Our doctor suggested the slowest nipple we could find and this was it. Even so, we had to poke a fork through the nipple to begin with because they are practically sealed when they come out of the package. Even with that frustration, she does have less gas with this system and that makes it all worth it. I agree with other reviewers that the old primary colors are better bottles (not sure why, but they don't leak and the nipple never collapses with them). Keep in mind also that, out of the 12 bottles I originally bought, 2 had faulty vents and needed to be replaced (I got frustrated and threw those out). I realize I wrote a lot of negative things here, but, used properly, these bottles do reduce gas and bubbles. I would buy one to start with and see if it works for your baby. It was the only thing that did for us, and we are just grateful that something did!

Customer Review: Bottom line: THE BEST!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this (the older version) for my nephew 4 yrs ago a worked like charm. There is not much to be said, but how great this bottles are. Many people complain about having to clean a lot (they have 6 parts or so), which I totally find better than most bottles because this way I am 100% sure that my baby is feeding on something clean and sterilized completely and never do I have the doubt that something might have stayed on areas where a sponge or brush cannot reach.

Like I said I used the older version which I think are slightly better than the "advanced" version, not only because they were a little easier to put together but because of their vibrant colors. I however, used to sterilize both the nipples and the discs (of both old and advanced version of this bottle) on a microwave proof dish with some water for around 3 minutes and never did I have any problem with leaks or anything.

So what can I say, the baby never EVER had any gas or colic, he slept all night in a row since he was around 3 weeks old, and never did I heard him cry because he was uncomfortable on his belly. So with my new nephew coming in less than 2 weeks I have already stacked up with ventaires and ortho-pros, I highly recommend this product .

Customer Review: Bottles aren't what I expected
Summary: 1 Stars

After reading the reviews of these bottles, I decided to go ahead and give them a try. After all, almost every review I had read was a good one. My excitement of a new product to help reduce gas and fussiness turned to disappointment quickly. I had the same problem as another reviewer. The nipples would constantly collapse when my son was feeding, and it would take him FOREVER to eat. After contacting Playtex, they instructed me to try a larger size nipple (my son is 2 months old, but we were still trying the stage 1 nipple) and to also make sure that the vents were completely dry before using them. They stated the moisture left after washing can sometimes cause the silicone to stick together, and to also stretch out the vent before feeding. So we bought the stage 2 nipple and followed their instructions hoping for better results. Wrong again. It still took incredibly too long for my son to finish eating. We had to open the bottle to release the vaccuum seal that had occured from his sucking. So we decided to switch to the Playtex Premium Nurser and have not had a problem since. I would strongly suggest only buying one of these bottles to see how satisfied with the product you are before buying the whole set.
