I was surprised to read all the bad reviews about these bottles. I used to use the Playtex Disposable Nursers with my newborn but he would have formula leak out the sides of his mouth so that he wore more than he was eating. A friend had bought me one of these 6 ounce bottles so I decided to try it. My son is now 2 months old and he hasnt had any problems. These bottles arent going to replace you having to burp your child but you do see that they help reduce the amount of air in the nipple. Also, I dont use a bottle warmer but I do use a small pot filled with a little water on a gas stove to heat the bottles and I have never had any problems with the seals coming undone. I leave the nipple off the bottle while heating (which they tell you to do anyway. Also, I have had the bottles for almost two months now and I dont have any film. I clean the bottles, nipples and seals with a plain bottle brush and antibacterial dish soap and I boil the nipples and the plastic seal once a week to maintain hygene. I personally like these bottles alot and so does my baby!Customer Review: Undecided

I don't know if I like these or not. I have several and have been using them since my son was born four months ago. The formula doesn't come out the way all of the books say it's supposed to, about a drop per second. Actually, nothing comes out unless you milk the nipple, or more obviously, if the baby is sucking on it. I did try using the second stage nipple and the formula comes out far to fast and my son won't have anything to do with it at this point...perhaps when he's older he can handle the rate of flow for the stage 2 nipple.
One of the design flaws is the round silicone insert that eliminates the air in the bottle. If you don't put it in properly after washing, the formula will leak from the bottom of the bottle. It also seems that when it is in correctly, occasionally it creates some sort of seal or pressure, and the formula won't come out of the bottle at all.
I still use them because I have them, and they do serve their purpose. However, if I had the opportunity to buy new bottles, I would definitely go with Dr. Brown's instead.

I read the reviews about the nipples collapsing. This happened to me the first time I used the bottles. I didn't follow directions by boiling them for 5 minutes. I put them through the dishwasher instead. The nipples AND the bottom vent piece MUST be boiled. I experimented after that and found that I never have a problem once they are boiled for at least 5 minutes. I think the heat somehow loosens/opens the vents. The nipple is designed NOT to let air back in, so I think the problem is more with the bottom vent not opening. I sometimes stretch it by hand a little and that seems to help.I'm expecting baby #4 and I will be using this system again. My first baby had the original playtex disposable system & it worked fine. I have used the disposable bags in the Ventaire while traveling so I didn't have to wash bottles. It's a strange fit, but since the bottom of the bottle is removeable, it works.
I really like this system and I recommend it to others to give it a try---follow the care instructions, though, so you can really enjoy it.

My son is now 3½yrs old and he used these bottles whilst a little baby. Our newest arrival will be using the same bottles. Feeding a baby using these bottles makes it so much easier for the baby to digest comfortably and adapt to a bottle after or during breastfeeding. The nipples do not cave or suck in whilst feeding due to the vented system. So none of this pullng the bottle out to let the nipples pop out again, frustrating a starving hungry baby. As for cleaning, I just popped all the parts in the dishwasher. Never ever any problems. To the reviewer who wrote that the seal at the bottle leaked / corroded after a short while... well dear I think you overdid the cleaning bit. Honestly, I still have the bottles and the seals and intend using them as a back up. The replacement nipples are readily available in different stages as your baby's needs increase. Today I just purchased another 12 of these bottles for the new baby. These are the best bottles I have used, so much so I ship them to friends in Australia, who all swear by this product.Customer Review: Could be Better.

When I first found I was pregnant I looked at a lot of different bottles. I decided on these because they were suppose to help prevent gas, and I liked the fact that you could take the bottom of the bottle off to clean easier. In the beginning it was hard for my son to get anything from the nipple, so I purchased stage 2 nipples. This time the milk came out way to fast. So, I started adding rice cereal to his milk and that stopped. I can't really say if this bottle reduces gas, they are the only bottles that I have used. But my my son hasn't ever really had that much gas problems. With in five months I had to purchase new nipples again because at the top of the nipple were there is a X (were the milk comes out) it began to rip and the milk was coming out way to fast again. By replacing with knew nipples I fixed the problem. My bottles have never leaked. If I don't let them dry fast enough after washing them, than yes some water will leak through the holes at the bottom, but never milk. Despite the nipple problems I love this product.
