Customer Review: Playtex is good but not with everything they put out there....

When I was pregnant, I researched many pumps and ended up buying the Playtex Baby Nursing Necessities - Petite Double Electric Breast Pump System. I read good reviews, bad reviews (and some really strong-worded reviews) and thought I'd give it a try. At the same time, I could not afford a $ pump but this was in my price range. I wanted to feed my baby exclusively breast milk. After purchasing this pump I find it to be okay because it only worked with enough suction on the third setting. The other two did not work to express anything. I have to agree with the other reviewers in regards to the motor. The motor is noisy and sounds like it might die at any moment so there will be no discreet about it. The design for the cups are perfect as they are much easier to multi-task with and would allow for pumping in a vehicle or other not so private place a lot easier. Not exactly, what I was wanting but for the price it gets the job done.
It's easy to put together and I could probably do it in my sleep now. After re-reading the bad reviews, it could be the milk supply that has something to do with the negative remarks. I had trouble one time when I tried to pump and only a few drops came out. I consulted a lactation consultant and got a good tip on when to pump and I was filling bottles in no time.
Have been using it for 6+ times a day for close to 10 weeks. I love the fact that the Pump is portable, lightweight and easy to use and clean. Before I gave birth, I intended to buy a more expensive pump but thought I'd give this once a chance first and am glad I did. This pump cost much less than others and works to par. I am able to express in 15-20 minutes on both sides at once on the highest setting. Also love that you can pump directly into the liners for the Playtex bottles. The entire system is easy and cuts down on the amount of washing. The other flaw to this product is the small white part that attaches the tube to the motor. The piece cracks and is useless. I direct connect the tube to the motor without any issues.
Though the Petite Double Electric Breast Pump System is user friendly & easy to clean, it may leak if you do not cover the areola properly & can leak in the threads of the bottles neck if tilted during pumping. Longevity is not a factor for this item but it does the job for me. Wouldn't buy it again but wasn't a complete waste of money either.
