Baby Products Reviews of Playtex Embrace Double Automatic BreastpumpCustomer Review: Awsome choice for any working mom Summary: 5 Stars
I started out with an Evenflow double electric breast pump and then switched to this Playtex Embrace double pump because my Evenflow lost suction (seems to be an all too common problem if you do some research online). I am very happy with my Playtex pump! It helps me keep up my milk supply, actually helps me increase it if I add just one more pumping period during the day and seems to work very, very efficiently. It is a lot more quiet than the Evenflow was, which is always good at the workplace. Cleaning it is a breeze, you only have to clean the cups, never the tubing, and the cup parts can go in the dish washer. The carry bag with everything in it is a little bit heavy but it is worth it to me because I like how the pump motor is integrated into the bag where you just open the zipper and it pops out for you to use. The tubing is stored in with the motor, a smart idea! The cable and the plug is easy to store inside the bag, all you have to do is take the plug out and plug it in, the cord stays hooked up to the motor, so it's easy and quick to "set up" and pump. I love the fact that the pump comes with a car charger so you can use the pump even in the car. (The only thing missing would be a battery pack but Playtex hasn't invented that yet). It's a closed system, where the inside of the motor can't be contaminated because milk can't back up into it - a major plus if you plan to resell your pump after you're done, or you have to use a used pump. You can just buy the breast cups new and then it is o.k. to use a used Playtex Embrace. That is not the case with any other pump (except one Ameda), all the other brands like Medela, Evenflow etc. don't offer a closed system and you run the risk of contamination! The only thing I don't like is the bottles that come with the pump. Their neck isn't funnel-shaped like Medela bottles, but it is a sharp edge and so some milk always gets caught in there and remains in the bottle. Since mother's milk is so precious (unless you have an overabundent supply of it), I would go with different bottles. I heard that Medela bottles are also safer for the baby, so that would be my recommendation! Otherwise an awesome pump, I can only recommend it.
