Customer Review: THIS IS A RIP OFF A WASTE OF MONEY

I REGISTERED FOR THIS PAIL AND GOT IT AS A GIFT. WHEN WE TRIED TO FIGURE OUT HOW IT WORKD THATS WHEN WE FOUND OUT IT DOESNT. AT FIRST WE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND WE WERE LIKE OHH THIS ISNT SO BAD. THEY ARE PRETTY EASY. SO WE PUT IT TOGETHER AND I TOOK A CLEAN DIAPER (BABY WASNT BORN YET) AND PUT IT IN TO SEE HOW IT WORKS. IT DIDNT IT RIPPED THE BAG WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT SO WE DID EVERYTHING ALL OVER AGAIN AND AGAIN IT RIPPED SO I EXCHANGED THINKING IT WAS BROKEN OR A DEFECT FROM THE FACTORY COME TO FIND OUT ITS NOT. THE OTHER DIDNT WORK EITHER SO I GOT RETURNED I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AT ALL I THINK ITS A WASTE OF MONEY. UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY AND NOT MISS THEN GO OUT AND GET THIS SO CALLED GENIE AND GET NO USE OUT OF IT FOR THE REST OF US SHOP AROUND THERES MORE OUT THERE THEN THAT AND TO GIVE YOU ALL A LITTLE TIP NOW THAT THE BABY IS HERE YOU CAN BUY DIAPER BAGS FOR DIRTY DIAPERS THERE A 100 OF THEM FOR ABOUT A DOLLOR OR TWO AND PUT THE DIRTY ONES IN THERE YOU GOING TO EMPTY THE TRASH EVERY OTHER DAY OR TWO ANYWAYS AND ITS SOOO MUCH MORE EASIER. I REALLY HOPE THIS IS USEFUL TO YOU. AND THE ONLY REASON I GAVE THIS ONE STAR IS BECAUSE THATS THE LEAST THEY ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE I GIVE IT NONE. I hate this product, and I mean that! I have gone through three of them in a two year period, my son is just about two. I have called playtex about the problems that I have had, they did not seemed to concered about it, would not even send me replacements, well done, I told everyone how much I HATE my GENIE. The smell, is unbearable, just as well use a regular garbage pail. The liners always have tears in them, that is how the smell gets out. My first one, the top broke off during our first month, took it back, got our second one, with that one, the turner that cuts the bags had broken off, Playtex sent me a whole nother genie, took about a month for it to come though, and my third one, the top broke off of it too. That was it, I had it. I do day care in my home so I change about thirty diapers a day, and the smell was just knocking me out, until I found the Diaper Champ, which knocked the diaper genie out of the water. The product was just great. No smell yet, and remember thirty diapers a day! I urge you, I know that people are familar with the diaper genie, but the genie is a thing of the past, the DIAPER CHAMP is the parents champ. Please check it out before buying the diaper genie and regretting it later.Customer Review: Great Product

This product may seem a little difficult at first, getting the hang of the re-fills n' all, but the instructions are pretty specific and once you have it down, this is a MUST HAVE for any parent! I bought 2 of them, one for upstairs and one for downstairs, and we have 2 babies, and it made life so much easier. The first one was a slightly older model with a separate razor thingy to cut the bag to empty it out. The newer one (shown above) has it attached to the top and you just twist the top to cut the bag and that is very nice, though both ways were pretty easy for us. I think it's definitely worth getting, the re-fills last a very long time, and so aren't so bad for the price you pay. It saves a lot of time and worry about how to despose of those stinky diapers. I don't know about anyone else, but if we were ever at Grandma's house who didn't havea diaper genie, I would put the dirty diaper in a small grocery bag and put it outside until they took their trash out, those things can really stink up your home if they aren't outside or sealed in the diaper genie. I think they're amazing that way and much more effective than sealing them in a garbage bag. HOpe this Helps!!

Diaper Genie was a mainstay at the daycare center where I'd worked, so I had no reservations when I chose mine over three years ago when my first baby was born. It has performed admirably. It now services the dirty diapers of two toddlers. Its trim design makes it easy to camouflage, and the liner really does twist-off odor and make disposal simple, neat and tidy. I think the inventor(s) should get a national holiday.WARNING TO FIRST-TIMERS: NO DIAPER DISPOSAL SYSTEM IS 100% ODOR-PROOF! If you don't change it every two or three days, you will notice odor when you open the lid to dispose a diaper. The odor when emptying it will choke you. No matter what disposal system you turn to, this is a universal truth. Empty it regularly, and clean it with full-strength disinfectant cleaner (like Lysol) weekly, and you will avoid Homeland Security Investigators calling about rumors of your biological weapons program.
PLAYTEX STANDS BY ITS PRODUCT: Recently, the plastic hinges on the safety lid broke off. Not bad after three years of hard use. I called their customer service department and requested a replacement. They are mailing me a new one FOR FREE. Didn't even charge for shipping. How cool is that!

I previously reviewed this item and had decided that although it *is* better than stinking up the kitchen trash with dirty diapers, it's not better by much. But then Playtex came out with the "toddler diaper" refills, they are supposed to contain odors better. Well guess what-they actually do! We've gone from barely using our genie to using it all the time. We keep it in the baby's closet, because at least only the closet would stink. But now, the closet doesn't even smell. I'm amazed that these refills could make such a big difference, but they really do. The only downside is that they are more expensive than the regular refills, hopefully that will change. But I think I can now say that the genie was worth the money I spent on it. A lot of people told me that i didn't need a diaper pail but let me tell you, after 18 months of diapering, I have found that you definitely do unless you want to be taking the trash out on a daily basis. We only put stinky diapers in the genie, we throw the wet-only ones in the regular trash. That way we don't have to go through as many refills as we normally would. I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend the genie to anyone.
