Baby Products Reviews of Playtex Diaper Genie Elite Diaper Disposal PailCustomer Review: Very good diaper pail Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this pail in anticipation of the masses of dirty diapers my upcoming baby would provide. Neither my son nor the pail failed to meet my expectations.
The Diaper Genie II Elite does its job well. It holds about 2 days worth of dirty diapers. It's in the corner of the nursery and unless it's full and open, it emanates little to no odor.
On the down side, the liner refills do cost money. That's the only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. I'd estimate 1 liner pack lasts about 2.5 weeks. At seven dollars each, that comes to about a hundred and fifty dollars a year. Not cheap at all.
Overall, if you're willing to spend the cash on the refills, this product is worth it.
Customer Review: best diaper system i've used so far Summary: 4 Stars
After having the worst experience dealing with keeping the odors contained with the Baby Trend Diaper Champ Deluxe, Blue I was worried this would be another repeat and another $30 or so down the drain. I'm happy to report as of 3 weeks in, this has been a significant improvement. Odors seem to be contained and it is working just as advertised. I'm also very please I purchased this one over the Playtex 40002 Diaper Genie II System because pushing the diaper through instead of opening it with your foot was very unpleasant.
Customer Review: They finally got it right Summary: 5 Stars
We had the original diaper genie and were constantly frustrated by it. So we tried the genie II elite. When I first received it I was upset to see that it didn't have the twist mechanism that makes "sausage" out of the soiled diapers. I thought it was a rip-off. But now that we're using it, I'm pleasantly surprised to find it's much easier to use and much more effective. This is an example of simplicity in design being the best design.
They also saved a lot of money because the amount of plastic needed is much less than the original diaper genie. It'd be nice if they would pass the savings on to the consumer. But I don't think you can fault them for profiting from a better design.
Customer Review: Smell is unbearable. Get the Genie II regular. Summary: 2 Stars
What was I thinking trying to be an elitist? I'm just a regular guy and have suffered the consequences to no end.
We had a Diaper Genie II and the lid got cracked. I finally decided to not be a cheapskate and bought a Genie II Elite last week. I couldn't be more disappointed. It is nice that it has a foot pedal, but the mechanism that opens the door on top while simultaneously closing off the dirty diapers is pathetic. It is completely useless in holding in the odor and every time we open it the room smells terrible for hours. I wish I had a way of returning this or exchanging for a regular Genie II. I feel totally gypped. ;-(
Customer Review: Can't wait to buy something else! Summary: 1 Stars
We used a diaper champ for the first 9 months of my daughter's life, and it worked great. Eventually, it started to smell which makes sense because every time you flip the lid it exposes a part that has previously been smushing dirty diapers. I'm sure we could have scrubbed it out and fixed most of the odor. But, we were lazy and decided to try the Diaper Genie. Big mistake. It doesn't hold many diapers and needs to be changed every few days. And every time we open the pail a horrible smell comes through it. The entire room smells after we change her diaper. This started with the very first use. I can't wait to try something else!
