Baby Products Reviews of Philips Avent Infant Bottle Starter Set, BPA FreeCustomer Review: Bottles leak Summary: 2 StarsWe have used these bottles for nearly 1 year now and I am not happy with them. They leak sometimes but seemingly at random times. This of course happens at the wost possible times, like bed time and you don't always notice it right away..that is until baby is settled down and ready to bed and oh great...now their shirt is wet and must be changed.
Customer Review: Leaky Bottles Summary: 2 StarsMy breast-fed infant son loves these bottles, and has no trouble switching from breast to Avent nipples. However, these bottles LEAK, and it's so aggravating. I've tried the aligning-the-valves-with-fins technique with both wet and dry nipple collars...nothing seemed to help. I'm sorely tempted to switch to another brand, but I've already made a substantial investment in these bottles. Arrrrgh! I definitely would not recommend these.
Customer Review: We've tried most and returned to these Summary: 5 StarsWe've tried the Playtex drop-ins and Vent-Aire models as well. Out of the three we've returned to the Avent time and time again. The drop-ins (both ring and sleeve) are nice but the nipples are very slow. There's nothing really wrong with them but just not for us. Now the Vent-Aire is a different story. Too many parts, leaks and they don't vent where they're supposed to. Avent on the other hand vent properly, DON'T LEAK and will feed the baby as quickly as humanly possible. This last point sold it for us. Imagine a 3am feeding which would you rather have: a drop-in model that take FOREVER to feed, a leaky bottle that vents improperly or one that will feed your lazy eater in less than 30 minutes (15 in most cases)? It's a win-win situation. You can get you and your baby back to bed faster and completely satisfied.
Customer Review: Best way to avoid leakage Summary: 4 StarsThese bottles do indeed leak, unless you can figure out the 'trick'... It really ought to be documented from the manufacturer.
This is what I do:
Fill up the bottle with formula (or milk), make sure the edge of the bottle is clean. Now wet the nipple (the inside rubber part) thoroughly (this is the 'trick'). When you screw on the nipple, go slowly, make sure it's straight on, and don't over tighten. With the wet nipple, you can sort of feel (and hear) when it gets a good seal, it's sort of a "suction" noise.
I hope this helps.
Customer Review: good product Summary: 5 Starsit's quick dilivery. It's gift for my friend so that I don't know whether it leaks or not. I hope not.
