Baby Products Reviews of Philips Avent Express Microwave SterilizerCustomer Review: GREAT product! Summary: 5 Stars
We love this product already and baby isn't even here yet!!! Our supply of bottles and such is beginning to accumulate, and seeing as how our little is just a couple months away from arriving, we thought we might as well get everything cleaned and put away. This item provides that extra measure of security we needed. It's so easy to use, and everything is sterilized within minutes. As we've begun to put everything away, I've already noticed that Avent seems to make more quality products than the other companies...you can just see it in the way that the items are put together and the materials used. For those out there who have a dishwasher, this item would probably be overkill, as they both accomplish the same task of sterilizing. But if you are like us, and don't have a dishwasher, this is a great little product to add to your arsenal of bottles, nipples, collars, etc etc. You can't really go wrong with Avent.
Customer Review: A must have for busy parents! Summary: 5 Stars
This sterilizer is a god-send! I'm one of those tidy freaks who washes the bottle then throws it in the sterilizer as soon as my son has finished eating, therefore this gets used AT LEAST 7 times a day! It's big enough to fit in at least 4 bottles and their parts at a time (and it takes all bottles, not just Avent ones), and it was also perfect for my Avent Isis breast pump, binkies, plastic spoons, teethers and anything else that could be sterilized. The longest you would have to zap it is 7 minutes for the lowest wattage microwave, which is definitely a lot quicker than a dishwasher load, or waiting for the water to boil on the stove. Just beware when you take it out as it gets very hot, either wait the recommended 2 minutes for it to cool down (if you have the time!), or have a tea-towel handy to pull it out with, and make sure you stand back when you take the lid off or you'll get a face-full of steam!
Customer Review: Make sure you snap it tightly shut - don't use when tired and fuzzy headed Summary: 4 Stars
We don't have a dishwasher, so we got this to sterilize bottles & pump parts. We're very happy with it. It works great.
However, when using it one weary evening, I didn't snap it completely shut. It made a loud click, and I thought it was secure, but it opened up when I lifted it out of the microwave. After getting scalded by steam, dropping the sterilizer, and sending bottles clattering across the floor, I was wide awake, but it was already too late. That's one lesson I won't soon forget.
Do yourself a favor, and make sure you snap the lid on completely every time. That can take a lot of pressure, and you may get a loud click before you get the lid completely on, so you might want to double check before heating it in your microwave. And, if you aren't sure you'll be able to press hard enough to get the stiff lid to shut, this might not be the best sterilizer for you to buy.
Customer Review: Just add water!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My cousin recommended this item to me and also bought it for me from my baby registry. I decided to try it because we do not have a dishwasher and I was worried about getting the bottles clean and serilized with out a lot of hassle. This is so easy to use and you can take it with you if you go away for the weekend. All you need is a microwave and just add water!!! It is so easy!!! You can also leave the sterilizer packed in the microwave afterwards and the bottles will stay sterilized for up to three hours.
After the sterilizer has cooled, you can fill up the bottles with water and they are ready to go! The more bottles you have the easier it is.
I have also used this sterilizer with breast pump attachments and other brand bottles and they all work! There is a diagram in the instructions for proper loading. You can even put your babies pacifiers in there!
Customer Review: Great for SOME people, not really needed for others Summary: 5 Stars
My almost 4 month old son is VERY small (24th percentile!) so the doctor recomended me buying a sterelizer, in other cases careful scrubing and just putting the bottles in the dishwasher would do, and it can save you some trouble. but for those people who need or really want a sterelizer, this ones great. Its much less expensive than the other sterelizers that take over all your counter space! It cleans my bottles very well, and I use mostly avent by the way. It can also sterelize my 2 1/2 year olds "magic cups" after he gets over a virus or if he had milk (another product by avent). It is fairly simple to use and much less stressful than boiling water, in my opinion. It also comes with 4 bottles, although my house is a bottle factory as it is! This sterelizer can also be used as a drying rack if needed. I love this sterelizer and it has kept my small son very healthy, happy and playful!
