I got this product as a combo with the Avent Sterilizer. ((Side note: the Sterilizer is a MUST HAVE item!!))It's nice to have a place to warm the bottle, and it does cut down on wasting water (vs the other method of a bowl of warm water). The biggest plus is it's faster to prepare. The problem that I had with the bowl of water method is that I would over heat the water then have to do a cool down process. I thought this product would help with that but it doesn't. You can get the water to almost boiling. You have to time it, but again, it's fast and ready to go in 6-7 minutes. The Avent is the best we've used so far as it will get as hot as you want it to and quickly (the whole point), without steam. And it fits the Avent larger bottles. Its also got an on/off switch on the back so you dont have to keep unplugging it.
Don't mess around with the others.
Tried the First Years brand...after a few weeks it stops geting hot enough fast enough. Same BTW with the cheap Target brands. Tried the steamer types..they burn your fingers unless you use tongs! Try using tongs with a crying baby on your hip!

it's a very practical item, it saves time and avoids forgetting milk/food being overcooked/boiled!

I first had the earlyier version of this product and found it was easier to figure out the maount of water need to heat various items. Also, in the current verison the water measure hooks onto the side in a way that makes the cap/cover pop off. So, if its purpose is to keep the water sanitary, that doesn't work.
As far as functino goes, though, this is really good at heating all kinds of jars and bottles. Just take your time to look at the guide on back each time until you know what you use mostfrequently. Otherwise, you may have to wait a few extra seconds forthe water to evaporate and finish the warming. This wiill definitely make the little one a bit cranky. I enjoy this product bbecause it doesn't require watching once you know the routine.
