Baby Products Reviews of Philips Avent Express Baby Food and Bottle WarmerCustomer Review: Great Warmer Summary: 4 Stars
All the other reviewers are complaining about not having a switch, I guess I must have a newer version of this warmer, because I do have an on/off switch. And my daughter is 9 months. Also everyone says there is no timer on it but mine the light goes off when the bottle is warm. If I have put a larger bottle in it is a little more on the cool side, so I do need to leave it in a little longer if I want it to be warm. My daughter is not picky though she will drink it cool. The only thing that could make this better is to have an automatic off when the bottle is warm. I will be honest, and this was my fault, but I have walked away and ended up leaving too long and then had to cool the bottle off. But after looking at the reviews of other warmers, not a one has that. Plus I am not using Avent bottles and I think that also has an effect of warming the liquid. I use Dr. Brown's bottles and so the 8oz. bottles stand up quite a bit past the water level. I do still think this is great because I don't have to wait forever using a bowl of water or worry about overheating in a pan on the stove. And when I was still breast feeding it was great for thawing breast milk using the Avent BF storage cups.
Customer Review: I think this is the best warmer even though...... Summary: 4 Stars
I think this is the best warmer in the market even though it doesn't has an on/off switch as the other people said. I used another kind of warmer that require to pour a little amount of water into a holder and it just steam up the bottle. However, it only either over-heat or under-heat the milk. Also, it could be used with a certain kind of bottles only. However, the Avent bottle warmer can hold any kind of bottles. (I have tried that with Avent 4oz and 9 oz bottles, the angled bottles, and the disposable ones. They were all warmed up very well.) Also, you can figure out how much time you need to warm up the bottle by reading the number of times that the indicator has turned on and off in different setting. For example, when I warm up a disposable bottle with 5 oz formula in it. I turn the warmer to the middle setting and wait until the light turn on and off twice. The bottle will be warm up evenly and ready to feed. Then I don't need to consistently taking the bottle out of the warmer and feel if the formula has been warm enough. This is totally a personal experience and I think as long as you have used it for a while, you will be able to master this skill too.
Customer Review: Works great...but no auto-shut off Summary: 4 Stars
This thing is GREAT. We used a couple of those 'steam' warmers before we settled on this bath type. The steam ones seem to make the outside of the bottle REALLY hot REALLY fast...but the mild inside stayed cold. So when we found this one, I was sold.
It heats the water inside the warmer REALLY fast (it's at temp in a minute or less). And for 4-6 oz bottle, it's warm enough to give our baby in a less than 5 minutes. If you time it right, it can be warm in about the time it takes to change a diaper.
Also to note, we don't use the Avent brand bottles. We use the Playtex Vent-Air system b/c those bottles hook up to our Medala breast pump. And this bath works great for those bottles too!!
CON: There is no auto shut off or timer on this warmer...which if you are paying attetion is no real problem. But we have left the warmer on for extended periods of time(for instance in the middle of the night forgetting to turn it off) and if you get distracted and leave a bottle in the warmer - it will be PRETTY hot when you got to take it out.
But OVERALL, a GREAT product and highly recommended for any bottle system you use.
Customer Review: Does the trick, but you have to keep an eye on it Summary: 4 Stars
We use this item in conjunction with the Playtex "Drop Ins" breast milk storage system. At first we were worried that the plastic Drop-Ins would either melt or burst, but that didn't turn out to be a problem.
Pros -
We've had zero issues with breast milk overheating. We leave the dial set right between 1 and 2, and that does the trick.
Works fairly quickly. Heats 3oz of frozen breast milk in about 5 minutes.
Works with disposable bottle liners, provided you use the insert. Not all bottle warmers claim to do it.
Cons -
Kind of expensive for what you get.
No automatic shut off. The light in front of the unit only turns on when it is actively heating the water. Once the water is at the target temperature, the light shuts off, but the warmer is still working. We have left this unit on inadvertantly for hours at a time. The on-off switch is in the back. Dumb place for it.
Overall, it works well for us. We've warmed hundreds of bottles with this thing without issue. You just need to Keep your eye on it occasionally.
Customer Review: Good Warmer but can overheat bottle. Summary: 4 Stars
I use this warmer to warm both formula and breast milk. I find it easy to use. The warmer is small, compact and comes with a 4oz avent storage bottle and a spoon for baby food. Unlike other reviewers, I have an on/off switch at the back. I am not sure if it's a different model from theirs.
The warmer heats the bottle evenly and I have had no problems. Personally, I think it beats the running water method (and is much faster). However, if you don't stand there and keep an eye on it, you are liable to forget about it and the milk can overheat. That is the biggest drawback, though I am not sure how avent would change that, since if the warmer automatically shut off, the milk might get cold!!
The other issue some people have mentioned is that bottles float! They only do that if you fill the warmer with too much water. There is a Max line for the water on the warmer and for smaller bottles you only fill water to slighlty above the level of milk. That insures that the bottles remain steady...and don't float.
Overall, I like the warmer. It's convenient, easy to use, small and nice!!
