Baby Products Reviews of Philips Avent Digital Two-Parent Baby Monitor with Zero-Interference DECT TechnologyCustomer Review: Love the wireless, doesn't hold battery charge long Summary: 4 StarsI had to have a wireless monitor and this was the one I chose based on reviews and cost. I saw a lot of reviews about charge/battery issues and to an extent, I agree. However, I'm glad that I bought this set because it still works well for me. I love the two parent units and it works well with my house setup. I've found the range to be good and I do not have any back noise issues. The parent units connect quickly and easily to the base unit. My only wish is that they included more than one charging station.
Customer Review: Great Monitor Summary: 5 StarsSo far, so good with this monitor. I ordered it to replace a Graco monitor that would not keep a charge. This one has been very reliable and I think it looks cool lit up in my son's room.
Customer Review: You don't get what you pay for Summary: 2 StarsI am disappointed in this monitor set.
When the parent units are on their charger, I have no complaints about the sensitivity or volume. When my wife gets up in the middle of the night to feed our son, I can hear her footsteps on the carpet as she walks in from the parent unit in our bedroom. I hear every sigh or noise that he makes. They look cool as well.
So, why only a two star rating?
These monitors were much more expensive than other brands (excluding the video ones). I'm willing to pay more for a good product. The kicker is the horrible battery life when taken off the charger. One of the units had a battery that never held a charge right from the beginning. I replaced the batteries that were supplied with a different brand of rechargeables and it didn't work either. So, maybe it's just a bad unit. The other unit gives us about 45 minutes of time off the charger before the battery light start flashing and it starts beeping. So, even the "good" unit still is pretty bad. There aren't a lot of times when we need to take the parent unit portable, but it was a reason I bought this monitor.
I can't recommend these to anyone who thinks they may want to use the parent units away from it's base.
Customer Review: Fantasic baby monitor--long range is great! Summary: 5 StarsWe have 3 baby monitors--two Graco and this Philips Avent monitor which we love. Our Graco monitor is the digital and works pretty well, but we needed a second one that would not interfere with the Graco for baby #2. We were worried after reading reviews about the battery life and volume, but have been very pleased! Just yesterday I was able to go 5 houses down outside with my 2 year old while the baby napped and got no interference or static! We have had no problem with the batteries either, although we were very careful to follow all of the step up charging instructions. We have both parent handsets off daily and they have never died on us yet. The volume is quiet until the baby makes a noise and then it is plenty loud at it's highest setting. It is well worth the money!
Customer Review: Expensive but worth it! Summary: 5 StarsMy husband and I have been through several baby monitors. We had 2 rounds of the First Years 900 MHZ, and no matter what we did, we always had static or interference from somewhere. It was so bad that it was impacting my husband's sleep. We read the reviews on this one and decided to try it - even though it is more expensive than all of the others, we were desperate. I have to say it has totally lived up to our expectations. It NEVER has any interference, but when our son does start making noise, we most definitely hear him. It has a soft, amber nightlight for his room which isn't like a beacon by any means (many of the other monitors have a "power on" light that is bright, bright, bright! This is a fantastic monitor, I wish we had bought it a couple of years ago.
