Baby Products Reviews of Philips Avent 3 Pack 9oz BottlesCustomer Review: Love Avent Bottles Summary: 5 Stars
The Avent line of bottles came highly recomended. I am a first time mom and had no clue of what brand to pick. I have had no problems with these bottles. The top leaked on me one time, but I think it was because the ring was not screwed in properly. I readjusted the ring and it did not leak further.
We wash them with a bottle cleaner, let them dry and sterilize them with the Avent sterilizer(which I highly recomend!). We also heat them up in the Avent bottle warmer. (My husband got a little carried away with the brand and purchased almost the whole line of products, but I must say I am happy he did.)
The sanitizer comes with a pair of tongs to pull the nipple through the ring. You can really tell that the nipple is in the ring properly. I am not sure if that is why there has been virtually no leaking, but I must say I am surpirsed that anyone has had any problems. I have seen alot of foam when I use the powder formula, but when I use the concentrated, mix with water type, I have only had a little bit of bubbles.
My baby was over 9 pounds when born and we started her on the number 2 nipple. The 1's were hard for her to feed from. She also had no problem switching from breast to bottle at all. The bottles are comfortable to hold and easy to take care of. I am glad they were recomended to me and can not imagine using another type.
Customer Review: Top choice in our home Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a breastfeeding mom who had to supplement with formula from the time my son was 3 days old. After each bottle feeding, he would have a terrible time with spit-up, gas and general fussiness. We tried several feeding systems to help with this, including Dr. Brown's, Playtex, and Avent. Avent was the clear winner in our household.
First, the product does what it claims - it reduces the amount of air baby consumes, therby reducing his gas and tummy aches. We had similar results with Dr. Brown's, but Avent was easier to handle (smaller bottles, lighter weight) and faster to clean. Avent also has a wider variety of nipple sizes to accommate feeding patterns. Equally important, this bottle did not cause any nipple confusion. My son went back and forth between the bottle and breast with no problem.
Leaking seems to be a common complaint. We have not experienced problems with leaking. The package insert tells you how to tighten the collar without causing a leak and that's always worked for us. (Use the cap; don't over-tighten.)
Similarly, I have no complaints about the price. Avent is certainly comparable to Dr. Brown's, and to the Playtex nurser once you figure for the cost of the disposable liners.
In all, I do believe that these are the best specialty bottles on the market.
Customer Review: Great bottle if you like getting wet! Summary: 3 Stars
After having 3 kids now ages 9,5 and 2 who all used the Playtex disposable nursers by my 4th I got tired of always running out of the drop ins and realized what an unecessary expense it had become. I also thought my 3 month old daughter was too tiny to be using one of those tall 8 oz bottles, (which is almost as big as her) as opposed to the nice compact design of the Avent nurser. I figured my sister-in-laws all use them and I'd never heard any complaints so I didn't even bother looking at the reviews before purchasing my own. Well I wish I had because now they tell me about the leaks. I'm right there with the other reviewer who said it was "not a leak but a pour" I always double and triple check the nipple and ring before giving my baby the bottle and about 50% of the time either right away or halfway through a bottle it will just start to pour out all over the baby and me. As a mom of 4 it can't be chalked up to inexperience I definitely know what I'm doing. So to those moms who haven't had any problems yet good luck to you, but I just wanted to warn others it might not but it can happen. Just imagine what it's like when you have to take the bottle away from your screaming hungry baby so you can clean up the mess and fiddle with the cap in he middle of a feeding (believe me it is not pleasant!)
Customer Review: great for my breastfed babies but kinda expensive 4&3/4 stars Summary: 4 Stars
To start out with I just want to say I have used these bottles with all of my kids, and very rarely have I ever had them leak(only leak when my husband puts them together). You must make sure that you put the nipple assembly together right out of the steamer (when they are still wet). also you must make sure not to over tighten them (that is why my husband has had a few leaks with them). Once you get the nipple assembly together you can put them on the regular bottles or the via disposables (great for traveling).
Pros:
1.no nipple confusion
2.less gas for baby
3.fewer parts to keep track of and wash
4.many flow rates for nipples
5.interchangable with the via system
Cons:
1:expensive we have 50+ bottles ($200+ investment)
2.add in the cost of various size nipples as baby grows and ur in the hole another $100 or so bucks.
Overall I believe that the benefits of the avent bottles are well worth what they cost. The bottles arent quite perfect but very close 4&3/4 stars is what I would like to give the item.
PS: I love both the isis hand pump and the electric duo IQ pump. I have also used the medela advenced and it is good as well but i hated having to transfer the milk from the small bottles to the avent bottles.
Customer Review: BEST OF ALL for many reasons Summary: 5 Stars
1. Great for both nursing and formula fed babies 2. Nipple on bottle closer to mom's 2. Nipple comes in different flows 3. Can freeze breastmilk directly in bottles 4. Wide mouth easier to get formula into 5. Purchase of inexpensive converter which replaces nipple makes great spill-proof sippy cup later on. Larger 9 oz bottle works great for my extra thirsty toddler(just don't purchase the ones without the spill proof feature)When you wash them, the clear piece is actually two pieces and comes apart to more thoroughly clean. 6. Sippy converter is soft rather than the hard plastic on most other sippies. My daughter seemed to like the fact that the only thing that changed when we were converting from bottle to sippies was the mouthpiece and it was still soft like the nipple. 7. Can still use the caps from when she was using the bottle to cover the sippy cup lid when we travel to keep it sanitary. 8. Easy to read measurements on the side 9. Have now been using for 2 1/2 years and they are still holding up great. Plan to use them with my next one due in JuneAnd many more good reasons that you'll find if you purchase them. I returned all my bottles that I had not opened yet from my shower for these once I discovered how great they were.
