Baby Products Reviews of Philips Avent 3 Pack 9oz BottlesCustomer Review: Perfect bottle for the Picky Feeder Summary: 5 Stars
Let me first say that my son is a picky baby. As a breastfeeding mother, I dreaded going back to work. I was afraid that my newborn would, like his big brother, decide that it was less effort to feed from a bottle than the breast. So I tried to find bottles that were as close the the "real thing" as possible. I tried the Evenflo bottles and he had no interest in them, I then tried the Playtex bottles and once again he wouldn't take them. Finally, I found the Avent bottles. I was a little skeptical about these because they are bigger and bulkier than the typical bottles on the market. But once my son tried these bottles I was sold. He was happy which meant I was happy. And, the Avent nipples are the closet thing to the "real thing" that I've found on the market.
I have never had a problem with leaking. At first I was a little disgruntled that they did not have the flat caps to make travel a little easier, but now they may lids that you pop out the center disc and pop in a nipple and you're good to go. My only other complaint is that I had to clear out a little more storage space for the bottles. But when you compare a happy baby with the loss of a little cabinet space, it's a no brainer which one is more important.
Customer Review: More than happy with Avent! Summary: 5 Stars
Yes, there is a leaking problem, but I found out that I just screwed the top on too tight and after I got the hang of it this problem was history. Even so, the advatages of these bottles outweigh any minor problem! My daughter was a breastfed baby and refused to be fed with any bottle. We tried so many varieties and shapes of bottles and nipples, she wouldn't accept none of them. A friend recommended Avent and it worked the first time we tried. This set works perfectly with the breastpump, too, and you can easily switch to the nipples for older babies. As another reviewer mentioned, you have to hold the bottle the right way with these but after a day of trial- and- error this problem was solved as well. What I really love about this bottles is that the silicone- nipples are practically indestructible, you can put them in the dishwasher a hundred times and they won't crack or even tear. The greatest benefit is of course that baby won't swallow any air while drinking, which is especially important when you have a colicy baby like mine... If you don't mind fumbling a little until you know how to avoid the leaking (some people made it the first time, wish I knew how...) and want to have a happy baby, buy these bottles, they're worth it!
Customer Review: Not impressed for the price Summary: 3 Stars
Okay bottles. I haven't found anything that I like better yet, but I am still looking. These bottles do leak. I realize that it is because of over/under tightening. However, I am the only one in our family that can tighten them correctly. My husband, mom, and sister all cannot get them tightened properly. This morning my husband tried to retighten it 5 times before he finally woke me up and had me do it. Our car has stains from other people mixing a bottle. I find that unacceptable for a pricey bottle. No other bottles leak like this. My sister-in-law just gave me all her Avents because she is so sick of it. Also, my daughter (8 mos) is still on the smallest size nipple because when we switched to the bigger ones, she had a puddle of milk behind her head. We have tried increasing the size since then and had the same problem. But she is a fast eater, she can suck down an 8 ozer in 10 mins or less! In spite of the leaks and the weird nipple problem, I continue to use them because other bottles have other problems. Maybe I am too picky, but we can't find one we like. My baby also spits up a ton and also several hours later. We have tried other bottles and other formulas. Nothing has worked, so we may have to do meds.
Customer Review: Frustrating & an inconvenience! Summary: 2 Stars
I recently purchased the Avent Nuatural bottles (not disposable) and I am very unhappy. With my first son, I used the playtex ventair system. I decided to utilize this product with my second son due to the fact that I was nursing and the nipples facilitate transition to the bottle. However, I have experienced nothing but frustration and inconvenience with this system. 1. Firstly, I purchased stage 1 and 2 nipples. Both nipples leak from the sides of my son's mouth so that I have clothes & burp clothes saturated with formula. The bottles also leak. In the FAQ section of the AVENT WEB SITE they suggest not closing the ring so tight. That's ridiculous!! In the middle of the night who has the energy to be bothered! I have two son's only 15 months apart. 2. My baby was premature and has some oral aversion & the nipple length is so large it occasionally gags him. 3. Last but not least, the bottles are so large that they take up so much room in my diaper bag. I can't even find a dishwashing rack to fit the nipples & rings and just as they take up my whole top rack of the washer. Babiesrus do not return used or opened bottles so I am stuck with these. I wish I had used the vent aire system again!
Customer Review: A bottle is a bottle is a bottle... Summary: 3 Stars
I have one of those babies who refused bottles in the beginning. I breast fed her mostly, but we wanted her to take a bottle so that other people could feed her, too. The Playtex Nurser was the first one she took, and we used it for a month or so, but I was anxious to get her off the disposables (both cost and waste issues.) My Doula recommended Avent bottles because, according to her, the nipples were most like the breast. Well, not mine, but ok. I like how easy they are to clean (I have no dishwasher.) And they have plenty of room to shake and mix formula/water. But our Avent bottles leak when you shake them. If you readjust the top, you can greatly reduce the amount of leaking, but not completely. They leak under the nipple ring, too, which is odd and annoying. Picture throwing a bottle in the diaper bag, or back pack and heading out. Everything gets wet with stinky formula. It also drips onto baby during feedings. I now wrap bottles in foil when I go out-which, or course, is wasteful. An other issue is I find it impossible to find anything but no. 1 and no. 2 nipples. I'd like her to use 3 and 4's to get her ready for a sippy cup. we've tried other bottles, and our little girl doesn't seem to notice.
