Baby Products Reviews of Philips AVENT Isis On The Go SetCustomer Review: Compact, portable and QUIET! Summary: 5 Stars
The sound of an electric pump made me nervous (I work around mostly men), but the Isis is quiet enough that you could pump discreetly anywhere you need to. I worked full time with my first child, and now that I'm only working one weekend per month I'm glad I didn't have to make the investment in the fully electric pump. The Isis works just as efficiently as those electric pumps. I've had mine since 2002 and I love it!
Understand that you don't have to depress the handle all the way to get the most expression. When I did that with my first son my nipples became more sore and even bled a little at one point. Hold down the handle as gently as you need to, for as long as you need to.

My only significant complaint is that you typically have to sit just right to get the best expression. If I lean too far back I lose the suction, and the milk will make a mess all over the funnel.
Keep an eye on those star-shaped pieces...they can get lost easily and you can only replace them through Avent itself. But the Isis comes with three star-shaped pieces and two silicone diaphragms...it was nice of them to think ahead.
Customer Review: I Love this and so do the people around me... Summary: 5 Stars
I used the Isis when I was breastfeeding my first son and will use it again this fall when our second is born. I buy it for friends that are planning to breastfeed and I cannot say enough about it...
It is quiet, my husband doesn't even wake up when I use it and people can't hear it in the office. (the big ones are loud and smell funny for some reason.)
You do not have to continuously pump it, just wait for the let-down and hold is gently- let it flow.
It is comfortable to use and feels more natural than the milking machines.
It is faster than the Medela electric ones, including the big one that I tried at the hospital and again at home.
I don't have an office with a door for privacy, so when at work (3 times per 8-hr day for a full year for my first son) I could borrow a freind's office, or sit in the car discreetly.
It looks like a decent lunch bag and holds several bottles as to not freak out coworkers in the fridge.
I love this thing, the price is right, and even if you use it to the maximum as I did and have to replace the pump (I put it in the dishwasher a few too many times and am clumbsy), it still is the one to buy.
Customer Review: Couldn't imagine a better pump Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best little pump around! I have this and the Medela electric pump. I have already packed the Medela up and put it away. The very first time I used the Isis pump it work immediately. Didn't feel uncomfortable. I went back to work 6 weeks after the baby and use the pump 4 times during the work day and extract enough milk for the baby the next day. The pump is so simple to assemble and cleans easily. Avent makes a fantastic product and I've already got my three pregnant friends convinced to use it also. HINT: breastfeeding hurt so bad in the beginning I almost convinced myself not to do it. BUT I was so worried the baby wasn't getting enough to eat that I went ahead and gave her formula using the avent bottles. After calming my self down and being assured the baby was getting enough to eat and my milk came in I tried again and was successful. I think the baby learned to latch on and suck using the nipple on the bottle and when she came back to my breast she knew what to do. Don't be afraid to give her the bottle if your having a hard time at first. once you are both calm and ready to try it again do it, in the meantime use the pump to encourage the milk supply.
Customer Review: BEST PUMP OUT THERE! Summary: 5 Stars
I just love this pump. I am a stay at home mom who only needs a pump for minimal use. I researched and researched. I didnt want to spend a lot of money but really wanted a comfortable pump. After many reviews and articals I chose the Avent Isis pump. I went with the back to work kit for these reasons. One its only 15 more dollars then just the pump and comes with everything you will need. It turns out to be cheaper to get the set over buying additional bottles. I love the carry case it comes in. Also its got 2 4oz and 2 9oz bottles, breast pads, storage tops, and breast cold packs! Just one purchase and I am all set. The bag also makes it so easy to store everything (and we all know how hard it is to stay organized with a newborn). Also, I reviewed the convience of a manual vs a electric. I compared it to so many electrics and they didnt seem comfortable AT ALL!! The Isis has a soft pump insert. It doesnt take me any time at all to use this manual and I have yet to get hand cramps of sourness from it. Its just so comfortable and natural--I tell ya, stay at home mom or part time worker--GET THIS PUMP!!! No need to spend the big bucks, and you will be more then happy with it!!!!!!
Customer Review: great for a modest amount of pumping; could be sturdier Summary: 4 Stars
This product is wonderful if you only need to pump small amounts of milk. I started using this pump when my son was about 5 months old and starting solids. I only use the pump to pump about 6-8 ounces of milk per day for his cereal. ANd for that the pump is comfortable and efficient (as long as you are realtively "full")However, if you need to pump bottles for all day use this pump is completely impractical. First of all the pump is not very sturdy. The base of my pump that twists on cracked after 6 weeks use. ALthough-- if your pump breaks, call the 800 # and they will send you a new part. Manual pumps in general are just not practical for working moms who need to pump many bottles and this pump #1--- it would take forever to pump enough bottles for the day and #2--- the pump would probably keep breaking with excessive use. So basically--- this pump is an efficient, economical choice for moms to pump an occasional bottle or to pump milk for use in cereal. If you need to pump much more than that, you probably need to invest in a electrical pump, like the medela. Also don't twist onto the bottle too hard or the base of the pump may crack.
