I ordered these for my daughter. She had very raw nipples---couldn't stand even fabric on them. She has/had Yeast (Candida) infection and they were so painful she was in tears for days. These shields were a life saver. Others have complained that they don't look great or that they leak and she hasn't had this problem. I guess it depends on why you want them. But if you are in pain and need to air out your nipples and keep moisture and friction away these are great. She couldn't say enough good about them.
So I can't even hesitate to recommend them if you are having serious pain issues these are Definitely worth a try.

For the most part I am extremely pleased with avent products, which is probably why I was so disappointed in these breast shields. My mother gave me a pair of breast shields she used while nursing my sister 15 years ago and the avent breast shields did not even compare. They are only good for wearing while you are nursing and the rubber ring does not make the best seal to the plastic shield. You cannot move around very much while wearing the plastic shields that have holes for ventilation, which is a hinderance while taking care of baby. Since I leak throughout the day, these do not work too well for me.Customer Review: Worked great - looked awkward

When my nipples were sore and cracked, these were great and helped me heal quickly. They also collect a lot of leaking breastmilk, but make sure to check them often because they will leak if they get too full.
These looked strange under my clothes, you could definitly tell I was wearing something. One thing I didn't like about the appearance, aside from the weird shape, was that there are little plastic bumps on the outside of the shell, two on each side, and the bumps are noticable under a tight shirt.
I'm glad I had the shells, but I wished they were less awkward.

I have a new baby brother, Danny. He was born about three months ago. My mom wanted to breats-feed him because breast-feeding is healthier and is gaining in popularity. However,each time she gave my brother a feeding, I was very happy to help her, but some formula was dribbly and it had leaked on the carpet many times. Later, a friend of ours sent us a present. It was these Avent breastshells because our friend knew that we have a new baby and my mom was breast-feeding and that feedings had caused leaks. Mom tried it and no milk has dropped in weeks. I am so happy to help with my baby brother.Customer Review: Excellent product!

A very good investment. I love the fact that I am not wasting the milk in between feeds (and it's amazing to see how much of it you can save)!
The shells helped tremendously with the inverted nipple I have. It also protects the tip of the nipple- if damaged.
Can't find enough words to thank the person that invented these! Really smart! Also, the quality in Avent products are incomparable. I have tried other products and everything I have at home (pump, bottles, bottle warmer, shells, pacifiers etc) are now Avent! Thank you guys!
