Baby Products Reviews of Philips AVENT Baby Monitor with Temperature and Humidity Sensors, White/BlueCustomer Review: Love this monitor Summary: 5 Stars
I researched every monitor out there on various sites. I decided not to go with video for two reasons: People can pick up on the feed from in front of your home. Yikes! And...other mothers said the sound picked up too much and they turned off the sound and used a separate monitor for that...
So I started researching sound monitors. I have a large home and the range is great inside the house. I can pick it up along the outside of our home but I cannot go too far with it. The sound is crystal clear and the light monitors are great so that you can see and hear that she is making noise. The other thing that is an absolute plus is the temperature and humidity gauges. Wonderful. You know how warm it is in the room and you know how humid it is. We actually got a humidifier as a result. It truly helps us and her...since she is a newborn sleeping in a cradle in our room. It has happened a couple of times where we have turned up the heat, put her down and left the room. Later we looked at the parent monitor and noticed it was too warm in there for her. That is priceless.
Customer Review: Could be easier to use Summary: 3 Stars
We've had this item for six months now and I tend to agree with the postings I read here before purchase that it could do with a few extra features. Still, I have a lot of trust in Philips and Avent, so went ahead. It's a very important piece of new baby equipment, so ease of use problems play second fiddle to reliability. This unit has worked very well, the tunes are nice (they've sent me off to sleep listening on the handset), the light is OK, the battery life is good too. Importantly, as well, is the temp and humidity readings and warnings which work well and give me a lot of confidence. But, I agree with older postings that you should be able to switch on the tunes from the handset. My biggest peave with this unit is using it in the dark or dim bedroom. The buttons aren't lit. If you use nighlights and things that may not be a problem and the untis rock solid performance justifies the price. I'd recommend this unit and just give you the heads up about using it in the dark. Hope this review was helpful and enjoy your new baby.
Customer Review: Excellent monitor Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Wow! This is really nice. I love the 2 way monitor. It works perfectly. The sound is crisp and clear and it really gives me peace of mind. The other features are great too. I love the soothing sounds. They have really come in handy when the baby was fussy. The thermometer is handy too! I bought it mostly for the monitor features, but I have found that the other additions are really nice features. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.
Customer Review: Does not remotely activate lullaby's Summary: 2 Stars
On Philips website it states that you are able to remotely activate the lullaby feature and the night light, this is not the case. I have contacted Philips multiple times to try and get this resolved, but they say this is not possible from the parent unit.
At this point they have taken this info off their website, but im sure there were many people including me that purchased this item for the remote lullabys.
On the plus side, this is a very easy to use monitor. The quality is wonderful and the alerts are very helpful.
Customer Review: Two units failed over a six month period Summary: 2 Stars
When it was working, it was great. Sound quality, range, etc., all as expected. But the handheld monitor simply died after about three months. Customer service was excellent - they sent us a new unit and we returned the old one. Well the new monitor just died today, again after about three months. I won't bother replacing it with the same product again. It's disturbing to realize that the equipment you are relying on to keep your baby safe may simply go silent, at any time, without warning or notice.
