Baby Products Reviews of Philips AVENT BPA Free Infant Bottle Starter SetCustomer Review: Good started kit... no leaks Summary: 5 Stars
So we had this on our registry and was a gift. We didn't check amazon ratings and put this on our list after reading Baby Bargains. After reading Amazon reviews, I was a little concerned. However, after almost one week of usage with our new infant, I'm no longer worried. These bottles don't leak like many other user have reported. Perhaps they fixed the design or had a bad batch. The Free Flow works well and there is absolutely no leakage. Its a little pain to put the nipple on to the ring after sterilization but I can see there are enough silicon around the ring for a good seal, unless the silicon hardens over time and usage, I don't see how these bottle would leak at all.
Customer Review: A handy set Summary: 4 Stars
I used Avent with our first child and liked the brand, so am using the BPA free for our second. I haven't had the issues with leaking that others have mentioned--I think it's key *not* to over-tighten the bottles. The nice surprise about this set is the formula holder. I thought it was just a silly extra to drive up the price, but it's been very handy for overnight feedings. Instead of keeping an extra can of formula upstairs and portioning it out as we "sleepwalk" through feedings, we pre-measure out just the right amount into the little holder and use that to make bottles correctly in the middle of the night. I'm sure it will be a nice little snack cup when our son gets older too.
Customer Review: We like it Summary: 4 Stars
We have had some issues with the bottles leaking, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. There is a small trick in that you need to wipe the nipple, the cover and the bottle opening dry before putting it all together and of course don't over tighten it. It seems like lot of hassle, but reading reviews on other bottle manufacturers, its probably not that bad. FYI... we didn't try any other manufacturer.
I will say that we use Earth's Best Organic formula + breast milk with these bottles, and I wouldn't consider our son to be colicky. In last 3 weeks, he has thrown up maybe twice. Surely some credit goes to the bottle design.
Hope this review has been helpful.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
These bottles leak all the time. Trick or no trick when you are up at midnight or whatever time for a feeding and your have a hungry newborn the last thing you want to worry about is trying to figure out a trick so the bottles don't leak. For all the money we have invested in these bottles and using them the last 3 months I have had it!!!! I have had to change my little girl for the last time because these bottles decided to leak all over her and I did not see it until it is too late. I am junking all of these in the morning and moving to something else. Because they do leak unless you get lucky I am giving these a one star. This is completely unacceptable for a baby bottle.
Customer Review: not worth the investment Summary: 2 Stars
I used Avent with my child 5 years ago and never had a leaking problem and loved the system! However, after buying bpa free bottles with my infant now I have had the same leaking problems. We have used the "trick" and it works less than half of the time. I am almost to the breaking point of going and buying a different type of bottle, but have spent a good amount of money. I think, for bottles that costs $9 ea, I should not have to deal with this problem. Please heed my warning and it will save you stress in the long run. The only positive review I have for the bottles is that my infant was not colicky (this could be attributed to other factors, though....)
