Baby Products Reviews of Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, 9 Ounce, Dual PackCustomer Review: I love Avent! NOT leaky! Read the directions! Dont over tighten! Summary: 5 Stars
I used the regular Avent bottles and when the BPA free comes came out i was VERY glad. I continue to read things about the dangers of plastic and the chemicals they release. I went online and read TONS of reviews on all the different bottles just in case i would use one different than Avent. Glass seemed to have lots of trouble with breaking and after i found lots of people where switching back to plastic. Then with other BPA free bottles people had lots of issues with nipples and i didn't want to deal with all of that. I did read that people though the Avent bottles leak. It does say in the packing info not to over tighten, i have only had it happen once, and it fixed the 1st time. They are amazing and just as great as the original! Now i know by baby is safe and i know i have the best. Avents air flow technology is the best. And there is only 3 pieces. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! Great buy here on Amazon!
Customer Review: Great bottle at first... Summary: 1 Stars
But they leak. Every Avent bottle we have used has leaked. Not just the hard, yellow ones, but the clear ones that come with the blue ring as well. The funny part is, when you first buy them--they don't leak at all. However, it seems that the more the bottle and nipple are used, the more likely they are to leak, and since babies can eat anywhere from 6-10 times a day...they start leaking pretty quickly. Hated every Avent bottle I tried. Everyone I know has had the same problem. However, if you want to keep replacing the nipple every few weeks, that's up to you. And there is a trick, supposedly, to "fix" the leaking. What you do is when you put the nipple in the ring, you line up the vents in the nipple so they are blocked by the white things where you screw on the bottle. This only worked for maybe one feeding and after that never worked again. Don't buy these.
Customer Review: Never a leak, few parts to clean Summary: 5 Stars
We have been using these bottles on and off for about 5 months, and daily for a few weeks. We have yet to have a leak. I'm not sure if Avent has updated them recently, or if it's user error causing the leaks, but all has been well here. My only leaks are when I use the clear bottles and forget the ring, and that's not this product. I am buying more of these honey bottles without the rings because they are so much easier to use, no worrying about forgetting a part.
I don't do anything special to use them. I just pull the nipple firmly through the white ring, ensuring it's all the way flush, and then screw the lid on. We have found that the formula heats up more quickly if the bottle is open, so we don't put the lid on until after it's warm.
I definitely recommend these bottles. I just hope they don't start leaking and prove me wrong!
Customer Review: BPA free, but NOT leak free Summary: 2 Stars
I love Avent because of its simplicity... not too much parts to deal with and easy to clean.. I had the old Avent bottles and never had problems with them.. with the BPA free ones however.. different story.. For some reason, they leak!!!! not all the time.. not all of them.. I dont know why, which ones or which combination... unscrew and screw seems to be the way to get it right.. but once at midnight feeding.. i tried the unscrew and screw tactic but I ended up with an empty bottle and a crying soaking wet hungry baby... What a disaster... I'm still sticking with my Avent.. but for those who are still researching and thinking of what to get for the little one... you might wanna try other brand.. or try a bottle or two before buying loads of them at once.. see how you and the baby like it.. Hope this helps.
Customer Review: Great Bottles So Far.... Summary: 4 Stars
We've been using Avent bottles for our 6-month old since he was born and have generally been very pleased with them - aside from an occasional leak. We switched to these ones, with the "Extra Durable" plastic, when we went from 4oz to 9oz bottles. We primarily switched so we didn't have that annoying extra ring to wash for every bottle.. We've been using these for about 3 months and are very happy with them; and knock-on-wood, we've had very few leaks with these compared to the older version bottles that have the extra ring.
I've read alot of reviews of folks complaining about the leaks and am wondering if they are actually talking about the older version of the bottles or if we have just been lucky.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again or recommend them to someone.
