Baby Products Reviews of PRI 4-In-1 Soft Seat Toilet Trainer and Step Stool White with Pastel Blue SeatCustomer Review: All right, but I prefer the Graco one Summary: 5 Stars
We had the Graco soft potty for my son and we liked it a lot. I had some issues with the seat coming off the ring but it can be fixed by gluing on some heavy duty velcro (which in an ideal would you wouldn't have to do but it's not an ideal world and I happen to like tinkering with things so...)
I needed a second potty with my twins and decided to try a different flavor. So I ordered one of these.
Honestly, I prefer the Graco one, which is a little cheaper. They are VERY similar. The main body is nearly identical.
Pros - can be totally taken apart and cleaned and reassembled. Pee shield does not come off, so nothing to lose. Generous size for bigger kids.
Cons - Handles feel flimsy. There's actually two halves to them, an underside attached to the base and an upperside attached to the seat. I guess it kind of keeps it together more but I would prefer one set of solid handles, as the Graco has. Seat is NOT soft - I was expecting a padded seat but this is not, it's just a layer of rubbery stuff. Granted, I personally can't stand padded toilet seats myself but the Graco has a soft seat, my kids seem to like it, I was expecting this to have a SOFT seat, and it does not. It also has no skid protection - the Graco came with little rubber feet you could put on so this doesn't slide all over, but this does not.
This will do for our purposes, but save yourself a few bucks and get the Graco one. I wish I had just stuck with what I knew.
editing this to say - the seat on our old Graco potty was ripped a little (it had a padded seat) and one of my girls decided to peel the cover off. Totally nasty inside!!! We have ordered a new seat from graco but now I find myself thinking, though it doesn't seem as comfy, this Primo seat really might be the better way to go as you will never have THAT problem with it. Nothing to rip and wear out over time. Nowhere for startling black mold to grow.
Customer Review: My daughter loves sitting on it, and it's very flexible Summary: 5 Stars
The best thing about this potty is that my daughter loves sitting on it. At only 14 months of age, she started sitting on it before bath time, and at 15 months, she started using it for the first time. I've seen many children afraid of the potty, and I think this little trainer has played a big part in making her comfortable with sitting to go. We plan on fully training here when she turns 18 months old this summer, and I think she'll be ready. A little potty like this is perfect for learning.
I've only used this one, so I can't say how it compares to other little potties. I'm sure many other are really good too, but I'm completely satisified with this one. In fact, I ordered a second one for our second bathroom so that our daughter can go in either.
When comparing with other little potties, you might like to know the following:
* It's a good size. It's not too big. Our daughter is small for her age and she still fits. It doesn't take up much room in the bathroom. It's also not too small, as there seems plenty of space for a larger child. Any child too big for this potty is ready for a full-sized toilet.
* It cleans up easily. Just live the top off and wipe out the bottom (or wash it in the tub if it's really messy).
* The whole thing, while made out of plastic, is surprisngly sturdy.
* With the lid closed, it doesn't look like a potty, and it can be used as a stool. In fact, our daughter really enjoys opening it herself when she wants to use it. The stool is very sturdy.
* The top comes off and can be placed on a real toilet for a good transition. We haven't used this yet, but I'm glad I don't have to buy a separate product when we get to that stage.
Altogether, I'd highly recommend it. I don't know how it could be more useful in potty training.
Customer Review: I am not impressed. Summary: 2 Stars
I chose this potty for my son because of the good reviews. I do not like it. I'm honestly baffled by all the great reviews now that I have this thing in front of me.
1)It is made of cheap material, feels flimsy, the grips on the bottom of the thing do nothing to keep it in place when the child sits on it.
2)It comes apart into 5 or 6 different pieces and all my son likes to do is take it apart. I did not want a potty that would turn into a toy, and this has just become like a puzzle for him, with all the different pieces.
3)It is a little big for him. He is young still but he's a big boy for his age. I looked at one of the pictures posted and he looks about the same size as the curly haired kid reading the book, but the potty in that picture is NOT this potty! This one is a little bigger and he can't get quite touch his feet on the ground, which is important.
4)And one final thing, maybe most importantly, the "soft" seat is not so soft. Doesn't seem very comfortable to me. It's just plastic on top of plastic... and after my son sits on it for just a few minutes his butt has horrible red marks all over it! Definitely not comfortable.
So, overall, i'm not impressed at all.
I gave it 2 stars because... it gets the job done I suppose, and for a child a little bit older than my son it might fit a little better. Also I really liked the idea that it was 4-in-1.
Overall though, I do not suggest getting this potty. Look elseware!
It's probably best to actually go to a store and look at them first hand, and not order online. That's what I should have done in the first place.
Customer Review: Good but could be better Summary: 4 Stars
I agree with the other reviewers that this potty chair has too many parts and crevices/corners to clean and to re-assemble the removeable seat after child has played with it is a bear. The blue cushion removes fairly easily from the white plastic and the tabs do not hold it in very well; personally I think it should be welded or molded with the plastic part, not sure why they are separate in the first place since you would always remove the whole seat. The handles on the side are kind of flimsy and the step stool moves a lot all over the bathroom tile floor, needs rubber stoppers. It is especially a problem when you use it as a step stool for the toilet. My 2.5 y/o son was kicking it with one foot while his other foot was trying to get on the stool (could be he's clumsier than other toddlers too), so I have to hold him and the potty/step stool in order to get him stable on it before helping him pull down his pants. Lastly, the molded blue "bump" in front does nothing to shield the pee in my son is sitting on it - I've gotten sprayed several times, even after I've helped him tuck his "faucet" down below and behind the bump.
All in all, it's not bad, lasted through a few years as I trained my daughter -who's 5 now- on it as well. If I was to do it again, I would probably look for a potty chair that has something for child to hold on to while he/she is trying to sit down. So many times my son (and probably my daughter did too) ended up with his bottom on the floor, b/c he couldn't see the potty and missed or he accidentally pushed the potty a little and it easily slid over. Amusing to watch, but counter-productive to potty training...
Customer Review: Perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this potty strickly on the customer ratings and was not disappointed. It's very sturdy, enough so that even my husband can use it as a seat when sitting with our daughter. All parts are very easy to clean. I started her training at 15 months, just by keeping her potty in the bathroom and having her sit on it (with her clothes on) every time my husband or I went to the bathroom. She soon got the idea and was sitting on it without a diaper. Because it took so long for her to go, we used the entire unit, but it didn't take long until we started just carrying around the padded seat for her to use on the adult potty. PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT WAS WORTH IT, EVEN IF WE'D ONLY GOTTEN THE PADDED SEAT. I bought a second seat from another manufacturer to keep in our other bathroom so we wouldn't have to go up and down stairs to fetch it every time she needed to go, but it isn't NEARLY as nice. The Primo seat isn't just a piece of plastic with a hole in the middle. It's thin and contoured to the shape of a little one's bottm. It fits snugly on the adult potty. It has rubber pads and plastic pegs on the underside to keep it from slipping when she sits down. I also like that either a boy or girl can use it, without extra parts to assemble or disassemble. There's a small rise in the front for boys, but it isn't so high that it gets in the way when the child sits down.
Very sturdy, very easy to use and clean. Can't say enough about this product.
