I needed something to keep my kid's mitts off of the oven handle. This did the trick. I read some of the other reviews and there is no question that if you pull on the over door with Herculean effort you will rip this lock right off. Its only mounted with some strong sticky tape stuff, but the point is for it to be a deterrent for the kids to keep them safe and get them to go try to destroy something else that isn't 350*F. If you want something that is never going to break- you need to hard mount something. My advice is- don't forget its on there- adults are more likely to break it than kids. Kids would literally have to hang off the oven door to get this thing to rip off if it was mounted correctly (ie., clean the area before you mount it and don't yank on it the second you've mounted it). It did the trick for me, but you need to have reasonable expectation for this stuff. Nothing is fool proof forever.
