Baby Products Reviews of Ocean Wonders Musical Aquarium Crib AttachmentCustomer Review: Good 4 Stars
Our son really likes it, and loves to watch it at bedtime. We only have three complaints:
1. The battery pack is too heavy and unless the pack is proped up against a stationary object like a wall it will not power up the toy. At first I thought I just bought a messed up one but now I am on my third one from BRU! On the third attempt we realized that this is just a bad feature and we decided to just re-arranged the baby room where the crib was up against a wall so our son could enjoy the toy.
2. The mechanics of it are very very loud. If you want the music to be heard you have to turn it all the way up.
3. It does not stay on very long. Our son is never asleep when it shuts off automatically.
One thing to keep in mind with our review, even with all three complaints above we were willing to re-arrange our baby room just to have this toy. Our son really does love it!
Customer Review: The Battery Pack SUCKS!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I was really excited to get this at the baby shower. I've seen them at the store, and thought they were really neat, with the moving fish, and the sounds and music. Well, it WOULD have been neat, if the stupid battery compartment would stay on! The thing attaches to the back of the aquarium, and does not even snap into place. You just jerry-rig it onto the base unit, and any slight movement detaches it from the base and makes it useless. You then have to move the crib, reattach the battery compartment, and shake or jiggle it into place. Sounds like a relaxing experience for the baby? Not so much! When it does work, the music is great, and you can change the tune and adjust volume, but the light is extremely bright, and when the fish are moving, the motor is very loud. In theory, this is a great toy. In reality, it is a huge hassle and not worth the money. I would definitely not recommend this one!!!!
Customer Review: Great toy Summary: 4 Stars
I got this for my twin boys when they were first born to sooth them to sleep. They didn't really care for it until about 5 months or so. It took some punishment and subsequently, so did the wooden crib after the twins moved it back and forth trying to get it off the crib. If you're trying to preserve your crib for whatever reason, this will probably hurt the finish, so you might want to put some kind of cloth under the straps or something. The music is pleasing enough for the kids and the moving fish is a great distraction. The only thing I would like them to change would be that the motor that moves the fish is actually pretty loud if you have the sound all the way down. If you're a child trying to get to sleep (or a mother laying right next to the child) you don't really want to hear the motor, you want to hear the music. Overall, it's a great product and I would suggest you buy two if you have twins!
Customer Review: Overall great and useful for a long time Summary: 4 Stars
We got this for my son for Christmas when he was a baby, so he'd have something to replace his mobile when he outgrew it. While I completely agree with reviewers that it is a pain to install and remove (very poorly designed in that regard), my son is 2 1/2 and still loves it. The bubbles stopped working by the time we changed the batteries the first time, but my son didn't seem to care about the bubbles anyway. Since he moved into a big boy bed, we removed the aquarium and put in on his bedside table, and it really helped him make the transition. We usually keep it on the music and lights setting, and I don't think it's too bright (although his room is pretty dark otherwise, so it also functions as a bit of a nightlight for going to sleep). It is certainly well worth what we paid (not the $88 I'm noticing it for on Amazon today, although FP may have discontinued this model in favor of the waterfall soother).
Customer Review: Aquarium Features - Buttons, knobs, etc. Summary: 4 Stars
My 5 1/2 month old enjoys this toy. Yes, the movement of the sea creatures is noisy, we mostly just use lights and sound or sound only. Yes, the battery pack is large, but I had no trouble with it fitting between our crib slats or tightening the 4 screws from the pack to the unit itself.
At the top of the toy are the adult controls. It has a switch with 3 choices for: movement with lights and sound, lights and sound, or sound only. There is a volume control knob. There is a button which offers a choice of 4 songs and 2 ocean type sounds. Each time it is turned on, it starts on the first song in the cycle.
On the front area that the kids can reach, there are two spinning toys and a seashell button to turn the toy off/on.
This could be improved with less mechanical sounds while sea creatures are moving. Otherwise, since my child enjoys it, it's worth having.
