Customer Review: You might like it, but as for our family...

our daughter is TERRIFIED of the thing!!. It is QUITE bright, and the push button to turn the sight and sounds on is quite sensitive to touch. This means that when we put our already asleep daughter in the crib, it was very easy for her foot or my elbow to bump the thing and turn it on. No more night-night. Our daughter cries everytime the music starts, and never plays with the toy except to spin the spinning crab ball. Worst of all is the construction and assembly. The batteries are in an easily accesible panel. However, one must use a pretty long and skinny screw driver to attach or detach the the battery pack to the toy itself, which is how the designers intend for you to affix the toy to the railing of your child's crib. There are four such screws to be screwed in or out (depending upon whether you are affixing it or removing it), which cannot be viewed with the naked eye.
All this means that once it's on your child's crib, YOU'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET IT OFF!!!

I bought this for my daughter before she was born. I play it for her every time I change her diaper in her crib. She didn't seemed to notice it at first, but now that she is 12 weeks old, she loves this thing. She is attracted to the lights and music. And when I sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star along with the music, she smiles so big. She is not as attracted to this toy as she is to her mobile, but the songs play long enough to keep her entertained while I do quick chores around the house like folding laundry.
There are 2 drawbacks for me (not including the need for a small screwdriver to install the battery).
1.) The bubbles stopped working. But I doubt she notices the bubbles anyway.
2.) I wish there was a night-light mode. There are several modes: Bubbles+Lights+Music, Lights+Music, and Music-only. I don't know why I'd ever use the Music-only mode, but I often wish I could just use it as a night-light without the music to check on her in her sleep.

I have gone through three versions of this toy with all three of my children (I bought the newest version with each child). I don't have this newest NEW version, but I have the one right before this one.
All my kids loved the aquariums as babies, but I found it a pain to continually restart it for them (a remote would be great!) And they all have had the problem of eating up batteries, so it sounds like this new version with a separate battery pack would help in changing those batteries (unless it really is difficult to remove as one other person has said.)
When my youngest was old enough to sit up and push the button himself, he began to play the aquarium to go to sleep. Sometimes I would check on him and think he was asleep and turn it off. He would immediately wake up and turn it back on. Now that he is 2 years old and in a toddler bed, I have attached the aquariam to the headboard and he still uses it to get to sleep.

I just wanted to say this is a great toy and soother dispite what a lot others said. I can't say much for attaching to a crib because our son sleeps in a co-sleeper on the play pen level so it is setting on a box just outside his bed. He can see it through the mesh and loves it to death. He is 6mths old and can turn it on and off himself and enjoys all settings. He falls asleep to it and also plays with it when he awakes. When attaching the battery compartment.... just snap it on and put a philips screw driver down the screw holes and tighten it down took me no more than minutes to accomplish. The motor is slightly on the loud side, but not disruptive at all. Most toys make noise it is just part of it and they don't have to look glamourous from all sides as long as my baby loves it I am okay. I would recommend to anyone. Ours is only a few days old so I don't know if it eats batteries or not but it only takes 3 D and I am stocked! ":)Customer Review: great idea some flaws

My son loves this toy. I bought it for him when he was only 4 weeks and put it in his crib. He has loved it since. He uses it when he is in his crib, swing, car seat, and floor. The thing I do not like about it is that battery pack. You have to take out the batteries out and the pack of to take it of the crib. This is a pain in the but because my son wants it with him all the time. I tried to just set it in the crib and that worked for a while but know he pulls it over and get mad because he can not see it. I just bought another on at a thrift shop (an older the batteries go in the back) and we use that on for the car swing floor. My son has just started walking and he pulls it around with him by the straps that hold it to the crib. This toy is very well made. Still works after being dropped and thrown. I you are think about buying this toy I say you should. Just be prepared that you might need to. My son it 18 mo and still loves it.
