Baby Products Reviews of Ocean Wonders Musical Aquarium Crib AttachmentCustomer Review: Bubbly Bedtime Friends Summary: 5 Stars
Bedtime behavior is so touch-and-go during baby's first and second year --- and sometimes comforting "aids" can really help everyone get some much needed sleep. We received an earlier version of this aquarium when our son was 6 months old and he (as well as his baby sister) ADORED it! We always knew when our kids were awake, from that, oh-so-familiar, yet not so annoying music. It attaches to the crib, and parents, or baby, or toddler can choose whatever setting is preferred or necessary --- including different varieties of soothing lullaby music, bubble sounds, soft-glowing lights, or moving fish. There is a volume button (thank goodness), and three settings, depending on what kind of stimulation is needed: music only; music plus soft glowing lights; and music plus lights, bubbles, and moving fish. Little explorers' hands can also press or turn to make some of the marine friends open, spin, etc.
Customer Review: It's loud, bulky, heavy and really not worth it! Summary: 3 Stars
I had registered for this item b/c someone had told me that their daughter loved this. I think it is just okay.
The only positive thing about this is the music, it is nice and soothing.
The negatives are that it is soooooooo heavy and bulky and a real pain to change the batteries. I never even attached this to my son's crib because of how heavy it is. I leave it on the floor and hit the blue button with my foot each night to start up the music while my baby is being put to sleep.
The other negatives are that it very loud if you set it to the movement of the fish with it making bubbling sounds. It is so loud and mechanic sounding, I NEVER use it for that because it annoys me so much and my son doesn't find it to be too interesting anyway.
This item is okay, but for the money it wasn't worth it to me because I only use it for the music part and that is all.
Customer Review: Entertaining for the baby; a hassle for Mom & Dad Summary: 3 Stars
My son loved the earlier version of this aquarium so much that he would not give it up to his baby sister, so we went out and bought a second one, albeit the newer model.
I was stunned at the difficulties introduced into the redesign. Placing the aquarium on and off the crib rail requires a screw driver and lots of squinting... where as the old one had a couple of straps and could easily be removed and replaced. I am not looking forward to the day I have to pull out the screwdriver again to replace the batteries on this new unit.
It's also much larger. Because it extends outside and above the rail of the crib, we could only place it on the rail that was not against the wall (and therefore squarely in the way of our arm's path for laying down/picking up baby).
I encourage anyone considering this purchase to hunt for the old model instead.
Customer Review: BEST CRIB TOY / LULLABY for BABY Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not sure why this product doesn't have better reviews b/c I think it was in my top 10 items that I bought for my daughter who is now 16 months. We use this EVERY NIGHT for at least 1 complete cycle, sometimes up to 3 cycles and we have only changed the batteries twice now (we have had it for almost 1 year). The music is pretty, the lights keep her attention, and I LOVE THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF (best feature). It was worth the 30$ and I would highly recommended it -- it does it's job -- it soothes my baby girl to sleep every night and keeps her entertained. I just wish they had a portable one.
P.S. I do not think it is hard to mount or change batteries. Just get a screwdriver and put good quality batteries like duracell or energizer so you don't have to change them as often (the cheap batteries die out so much faster and I wouldn't use rechargeable ones either.)
Customer Review: Good concept, bad design Summary: 2 Stars
We bought this aquarium because we saw our friend's son playing with his and he just loved it. Unfortunately, the model they had was replaced with this newer version. The concept was the same and the music, bubbles and fish are great. Our son loved the spinning crab too. But, functionally, the design is horrible. The battery pack plugs into the back of the aquarium once you have attached it to the crib. Since it takes D batteries it is really heavy. The pack kept losing it's connection to the toy because it was so heavy. It would only play if you held it in place. We took it back and the only model they are now stocking at TRU is this jungle one which didn't look nearly as neat. So, I went and found a used version of the older model our freinds had at a second hand store. Our son absolutely loves it. This one has the batteries inside the toy and it works great.
