Baby Products Reviews of North States Superyard Play Yard, Classic XTCustomer Review: Best baby purchase ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I have two kids; a 5 year old son and an almost 7 month old daughter. When I had my son, things were easy and I lived in an apartment where it was easy to keep him contained into one room. Things are much different now that I have my daughter (open concept livingroom/kitchen, a son that has smaller toys the baby can't play with, a dog that gets excited and sprints around the livingroom, etc) so I wanted a way to keep her safe without sticking her in a pack n play all day. I decided to give this superyard a chance and it is great! I have 8 panels total (superyard plus one extension) and it is the perfect size! I decided to purchase the alphabet/number mats to put under it so that I could just wipe up any drool/messes instead of having to move it around to vacuum daily.
I would recommend this is ANYONE looking to give their little one a hangout of their own! It is very durable, which is something I was worried about since I knew my son would want to get in there with his little sister. He can climb over it on his own and it holds up fine!
Customer Review: So far so good Summary: 5 Stars
The yard is preassembled and ready to use out of the box.
It is a bit difficult to open and close the "doors" so we end up striding over them.
It is easy to turn the play yard into a protective fence around undesirable parts of the house - very helpful function.
It is very easy to move the yard around unless it is fastened to the wall, but so far this has been a life saver for our little one. A few times there were some tumbles against the plastic gates, but most of these would have been significantly more dangerous without it.
On the design - it looked garish, but we hung a number of toys on the gate and it looked much more kid friendly and interesting for our little man.
Large enough for an 18 pounder to roam - we are waiting to see how much use we get out of this now that he has learned to pull himself up to a standing position and to march around the gates holding on them. Although the entire construction shakes it supports him quite well so far.
Customer Review: Very Disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
We were so disappointed with this enclosure system we returned it the next day. The hinge mechanism between the panels is not easy to use. To position the panels into a circle is surprisingly difficult. The worst part is that as I forced the hinges into the angle required I could feel the plastic flexing. I could tell that it was a matter of time before I either broke off a plastic hinge or broke a plastic panel. I thought for sure I was doing something wrong because this product has received so many positive reviews. I carefully re-read the instructions, and I concluded that I was using the product as directed. We were hoping to easily deploy and then store this enclosure on almost a daily basis. Given the difficulty of operation, and poor design it was an easy decision to return this product. Fortunately, the Amazon return procedure was quite easy. I hope this review is helpful. I usually do not take the time to write reviews, but hopefully I can help someone avoid wasting their time on this piece of junk.
Customer Review: Great for children and for climbers too. Summary: 5 Stars
My twins are one year old. After reading mixed reviews (and many of good ones from dog owners), I was not sure if this play yard was appropriate for children, but I could not find an affordable alternative, so I went ahead and purchased it. Now I have to say, I am very pleased with it. It is very sturdy and with textured mats underneath it is very hard for babies to move it around. It is perfect height as my babies cannot climb out of it (one of my boys already attempted, but was not able to, thanks to diamond shape openings) but I can climb in and out without much effort. It is large enough for twins, even without the extension panels. And, to my surprise, I like how it looks (I would prefer colored panels and was considering Little Playzone for this reason, but realized it has many problems - small parts to choke on, small size without extensions, more expensive). With colorful mats and toys inside it looks like a nice playpen for children. I am glad I bought it and highly recommend if you are not sure.
Customer Review: Great for blocking toddler access to items Summary: 5 Stars
I use the Superyard pieces to keep my toddler away from items I don't want him to touch, and for that purpose, it works great! I don't keep him contained because he is way too adventurous, so this is a way to protect the things that he needs to stay away from for safety's sake.
1. I surrounded the treadmill with superyard pieces so he can't try to climb on when I run. Now the only hazard is when he throws toys at me.
2. We have a bathroom off of our playroom so we use superyard pieces to keep him out of the shower when we shower, but we still have a clear sight line into the playroom.
3. I have superyard pieces surrounding our TV so he doesn't push buttons...his favorite past time.
4. I am buying another superyard so I can use it in the backyard this summer. We live in the city and I want to block his access to the gangway/alley so I am not constantly chasing him, and so the occasional stray dog doesn't eat his fingers.
