Customer Review: As good as it gets for larger wooden gates

I bought two of these. I looked into a lot of gates to fit wide spaces and even ordered some that I returned because they weren't flexible enough to fit our openings. This is the best looking of the bunch, and it actually worked out, though I had to accept having an extra panel horizontally along a wall. There was just no way I could use the mounting hardware with only 3 of these panels. You seem to have to work in multiples of two (or four?). Also, one of the mounting parts listed in the instructions is not in the parts bag, it's already on on of the panels. I have to return one over this, and only figured it out when the replacement had the same apparently missing part issue. You probably won't land on a stud either if doing an amphitheater shape like us, so get yourself some wall anchors, because they're not in the box. On the plus side, the gate works great and our 20 month old twins can't climb it. It does look really nice as far as gates go, and we have a variety of woods you can see at the same time - this complements them all. There's an excellent mechanism on this gate which prevents them getting out, but also prevents nana with her arthritis from getting out (press/lift/push or pull). The design helps prevent the gate from slamming on their little fingers. Nice to be able to keep it open just by opening it wider!Customer Review: Good playpen

This is a good quality product. I got it because of the reviews about it's sturdiness. My 10 month old son is a climber and puller. The first thing he did when he got in it was pull himself up on the bars and giggle. I can imagine that with cheaper and lighter gate, he would be pushing the pen all over the house. I can sit in the play area and lean on the gate without it budging. I don't mind that it is heavy because I have no intention of moving it. The way that the pen is set up in my house, it is in the middle of the living space so that it is important that the gate does not travel. I was considering the little playzone but an glad that I did not get that. My friend's second son has learned to push the playzone around the house. It is also very beautiful and matches the decor. It also help to maintain his toys in one area for the most part. The gate is pretty easy to use even one handed. It is also easy to set up. It is true that you have to add attachments by 2 panels at a time. I can see this as a problem for some but I got the 2gate extension and created a nice size square. It give my son enough room to maneuver without overtaking my living space.Customer Review: Great for our needs and home

I really appreciate the informative reviews of this superyard and of the other cheaper options out there because it helped me make the right purchase. This superyard was easy to assemble, I did it by myself. It's sturdy and it's attractive. I bought the superyard plus extension which makes a nice size rectangle shaped play area. I did not want to take up any more room in the living room than this gives with just the one extension so it's perfect for us. I do not have a problem with operating the lock on the gate even with one hand as I hold the baby, but I have dexterous fingers so perhaps that's why. As for its looks, we have a historic house with original wood parquet floors throughout and lots of historic detail so we didn't want something jarringly mismatched - the wood of this superyard matches the floor and looks great. One suggestion for the company, a medium or dark brown plastic on the joints would look much better than the black plastic and would be more harmonious in home interiors.

well ... it does what it's suppose to do ... but ... if you are buying a gate for well over 150 bucks you are expecting more.
The gate is not easy to open (the click is too hard for adults and the motion of opening it is awkward)
but the most annoying thing is that you can not install it on the wall with an uneven amount of panels. you have to use 2, 4 or 6. which in our case is a problem as the space is perfect for 3 panels.
this would have been possible if they were not so cheap and would have included in the package 2 more plastic pieces....
i will try to contact them to see if they are willing to send me the pieces - but it should be included by default ...
buy this only if you need a very long wooden separator in your house. and be aware that its not easy to open...

Amazing, Sturdy, good looking. I needed a safety gate this Thanksgiving to protect my 10 month old grandson from our free standing wood stove. My handy husband wanted to build one. I decided to order the north gate after researching many of the safety barrier products with the thought that I would have one in case he didn't have the time to make one. You can imagine he wasn't exactly pleased with my decision. When it arrive we put it together easily and he was amazed at the quality and functionality and value and had no desire to try to do better. One of the best features is how easily and efficiently it folds for storage. I was impressed how sturdy the barrier was. We had also purchase the extra panel to complete the safety area which was a snap to add. We had a 10 month and 2 year old and never a worry about the wood stove.
