Baby Products Reviews of North States Superyard 3 in 1 Metal GateCustomer Review: Back/Life Saver Summary: 5 Stars
I did a lot of reviews on all the play yards available and this is the one I chose for these reasons.
Pros: Heavy duty, does not fall over no matter how you shape it, rods go up and down so baby can't use slots to pull themselves up, breaks apart easily, gate is great addition, baby uses the rails to walk all around for security...love this product
Cons: This yard set is heavy, but I break it down into panels to carry with me to my sons house, I had to buy an extension, the six panel is too small, the baby at first had to learn not to fall against the rail and hit their head, but trust me once they have done this, they are more cautious not to repeat it, you have to have some kind of mats or rug under it, I felt safer with rugs, the baby can slide the cage across ceramic flooring and the floor is cold for tier feet. And they can easily slip on toys without a rug under it...
Now she is ten months old she can stand on tall toys to make herself higher in the cage, so don't' leave any of those while baby is being unattended, but besides all these simple cons....I have a bad back and am up in age, I have to take care of my sons baby Mon-Fri, so this cage is a life saver for me, especially now she is walking around....buy one, you will be glad you did...
Toys R Us asked almost 2oo.00 for the two pieces and Amazon with opening a credit card on charged me around 135.00 and free shipping. Even though it said ten days, it came in two, I was very pleased with Amazon, always have been....
Customer Review: Excellent quality, budget friendly fence Summary: 5 Stars
(Written by the husband - See also the picture under shared images)
After reading reviews for about every fence out there, I decided to purchase this one. It is everything the reviews said it was and more.
We are required to have a safety fence around our fireplace to meet the county requirement for Foster Parenting. That said, I also wanted something solid, affordable and that looked nice.
Pros: 1) It comes out of the box assembled and ready for use. 2) It took me all of 3 minutes to switch the gate panel to the location of my choosing. 3) The latch for the gate is simple and effective. 4) Each panel can be locked into the next one creating a semi-permanent shape that a child cannot change. The simple twist lock allows an adult to change shape quickly if desired.
Cons: None that I have noticed unless you want a really big play area then but two or three of these. I only needed the 12 feet of length not the square feet for play.
Notes: 1) Pay attention to the twist locks which not only create a fixed shape but also allow you to change out panels rapidly. Just unscrew them and move the gate panel to a new location, align and screw back in. No tools necessary!
2) To get the best latching from the gate when using the fence as a barrier, I recommend wall mounting. Find "plumb" so that the latch fully closes. If the fence is not mounted to a wall you will need to move the panels slightly to get a full closure of the latch. It is not a big deal but worth noting.
Customer Review: Not Cheap But worth every penny Summary: 5 Stars
I am the type that enjoys research so I will keep this short and not go into too many details. Our little girl just reached 10 months and enjoys standing and holding herself up. She is also in the 98% percentile for weight and height. So we needed something sturdy. We actually bought two of these gates to make for a wider area and they fit together very easily. It will take you a few minutes to get used to how the sections connect, but after the first few it is easy. The instructions could definitely be more helpful.
PRO:
-This gate is very very sturdy and looks to me to be nearly indestructible as it is all metal except for the plastic connectors.
-Very easy to configure how you want it
Cons:
-The gate opening is a little narrow and for a larger person could be annoying.
-Heavy and probably not easily transferred
-You have to use an even amount of sections at one time unless you are connecting it to a wall which could pose a problem. (not a huge deal for us)
-Inside area small for more than just a baby or two. (Don't plan on joining your child if you only order one!)
-Price is a little high but worth the quality
I have not tried to connect to a wall but I can see like the other reviews mentioned it may take a little extra work. Even with all the cons I listed which to me are minor annoyances I gave this product a 5/5 as it perfect for what I needed, a safe, sturdy, long lasting baby gate and possible future dog gate.
Customer Review: Effective, stable Summary: 4 Stars
I bought two of these to make a playpen for the baby. A set has six panels, each 2 feet long. One of the panels has a door in it, about 1.5 feet wide.
Pros
-multiple sets can be linked together to form whatever shape you want.
-reasonably sturdy
-fairly attractive (not as nice as the pictures, but certainly won't be the ugliest thing in a room full of toys...)
Cons
-not as stable when the panels are at 90 or 180 degree angles (for example, if you made a rectangle instead of the hexagon as shown), though still stable enough to withstand a 1 year old
-a single set would only be really stable in the hexagon shape, or with the ends secured to a wall (hardware is included for that)
-the hexagon configuration shown is REALLY SMALL! I would guess most people would need two of these to make a meaningful yard
-doesn't grip all that well on hardwood, though again, stable enough against a 1 year old
-the instructions don't really explain how to remove or add panels. But once you figure it out it's easy.
Neutral
-the door is a little hard to open, definitely not possible for a child. But can be tough for a one handed adult (for example, when carrying a baby it is hard to open one handed - but possible)
Other thoughts... There is an "extender" set you can buy with two panels. But it's about 3/4 the cost of a full set. You'd be better off buying two full sets.
Customer Review: Not a bad gate but.... Summary: 3 Stars
We bought this gate a few days ago to replace another extra wide gate our son broke through after one year. Our previous gate was a Summer Infant Sure and Secure Super Wide Gate. It was a nice gate but the fabric/mesh design was not strong enough and the fabric/mesh over the gate's door was secured with velcro. Once our son found out about this he would just undo the velcro and walk through the door.
So we decided to go for an all metal gate and went with this one based on some positive reviews. Overall it is a good gate but I would warn you of the following:
1) The instructions were not very good at all. They were minimal at best and could have been better thought out.
2) If you want to mount it to a wall as we did, then the B Side upper mount should be threaded in order to create a better connection like all the other threaded upper mounts. Why would they leave this most critical piece without a threaded top? It made no sense and one of our mounted sides is only secure because of a pressure mount. If you mount yours to a wall you'll know what I'm referring to when you try to mount it.
3) The door to this gate has a very flimsy locking mechanism and I'm not sure how long it will last with daily use. We're keeping our fingers crossed and will update this when it goes.
