The only reason that I did not give the gate a rating of 5 stars was due to price. I installed the gate in one of my bedroom door openings. It is nice and sturdy and it does close on its own. That was the key selling point to me. Not everyone remembers to close the gate behind themselves and that defeats the purpose of a gate in the first place. I do not want it to ever stand open on its own. I love the gate, I just wish that it was a little cheaper so I could install in into more of my door frames.Customer Review: Sturdy, but noisy

Much sturdier than any plastic gate we tried. Make sure you measure the space and get the correct extensions to fit. There is very little leeway in terms of the width, you have to have the right extensions to fit. Makes a pretty loud noise when it closes, which is an issue for us as it's right next to the nursery at the top of the stairs. Doesn't require drilling for top-of-stairs use which is nice. The opening isn't real wide so maybe not good for older or wider people.Customer Review: North States auto close metal gate

I bought this to block the entrance of the stair way for the safty of our 16 month old daughtor. This is a bit more expensive than other brands in the market but we are glad we picked out this gate. It is durable, made of metal. It is safe, impossible for her to open since it has to be lifted to open. And you don't have to drill wholes to install it. Speaking about safty, we have zero tolerance and this meets the expectation. Highly recommond to parents who seek for gates.Customer Review: Great gate

This is the best gate yet. We have it at the top of our stairs and we purchased it because it is pressure mounted and easy to install. We have a 2 1/2 year old who he has figured out how to open other gates and other child-proofing items we have around our home. This gate is more challenging to open for a toddler, which is good. It is a strong, heavy and sturdy gate. The best. We will be purchasing another because it is the only gate our toddler cannot open.Customer Review: Great Gate

After realizing that my little 15 pound dog is stronger and smarter than I expected, I needed to find a sturdy gate that he couldn't escape from. This gate is perfect for these purposes. It did take some force to install but took me only 15 minutes. You could easily purchase extensions right on Amazon so it should fit almost any opening. If you have a dog and need to create a barrier in a hallway, I would highly recommended buying this product.
